This is lookin to be the best thing since Justice but not anywhere near as good as Justice, Kill and Ride.
Just better than Black, Master, Load, ReLoad and St. Anger... which isn't saying much.

Well, they can't please everyone. I wouldn't mind checking out a mp3 of it but I'm sure Lars would throw a hissy fit if I downloaded it without paying.

Wow, that was quite nice. My expectations are rising for this; though I have to admit was pretty low for a few years already.

I could have gone to Ozzfest yesterday, but the fact is, it was 105 degrees, it's an outdoor event, and I've been in that stadium for summer afternoon concerts before.
It basically comes down to how much your willing to suffer.

Not too shabby, but after St. Anger I need more insurence to make me buy this album.

I don't know, as a big, longtime Metallica fan, I'm kind of skeptical that as a "return to form," they're doing this for the right reasons. At the same time, I don't know if I can feel the same about Metallica at the age of 24 as I did when I was 13. Which isn't to say that I can't still strongly enjoy stuff from throughout their entire catalogue, particularly their first 4 records.
Let us not forget the similar hype preceding St. Anger, which was hyped as a "thrashy return to form," but instead turned out to be a horrendous album featuring one really long, really bad nu-metal song, featuring tin-can drumming and a whole bunch of parts stuffed together.
I obviously hope for the best, and as a 2 minute song clip, I'll label it "promising." I'm not saying that I just want a rehash of Master of Puppets and Ride the Lightning. I don't want them to continue trend-jumping as they have over the past 12 or so years. Post-grunge buttrock was big in the '90s, so they cut their hair and put out 4 minute ballad-y rock songs. Nu-metal was bit in the early Aughts, so they kind of took some cues from that. Now that riffy metal has kind of made a comeback, and nu-metal has faded into the background (with a few exceptions), they're hopping back on that trend?
But, let's hope for the best!

I think Metallica has gone beyond Nickleback heat and no matter what they come out with people will like it.
Sure people say St. Anger sucked but they played the hell out of that song on the radio and I quite liked it.
