I've always wanted to go myself but have never had the finances to do it.

No, but I've met a Holocaust survivor and it made me feel like a dwarf to stand in such a presence. Amazing human being.

I went to Dachau, Ebensee and Mauthausen as part of a students' delegation with some survivors. It was quite an experience, and the atmosphere surrounding the camps, even some 50 years after the war, is awkward and "heavy". The camp themselves were impressive in a very sinister way. The only "off" part of a Memorial Ceremony was the presence of several Cuban flags, and even a Che Guevara one... Sidenote, the survivors we traveled with were super-cool people; their stories and their reactions inside the camps were very touching, but oddly enough they were very funny during the bus-tour, especially around the coffee-machine It's not an "easy" experience, but visiting a concentration camp is sure worth being done. P.S. It's Auschwitz...

I am going to Germany in September and will likely visit an actual Nazi concentration camp.

I've been to Buchenwald and its Sub-Camp Langenstein-Zwieberge where some Jehovah's Witnesses were held under persecution in WWII. Chilling experience.

No, but I have been to the one in eastern France in the thick of the Black Forest. What was done was just...wow. Speechless on what was done.

I've been to a smaller memorial museum in St. Louis. Even that was hard to look at... can't imagine seeing the camps in person.

Been to Bergen-Belsen (I'm sure I spelled that wrong). Very moving experience. A regular customer at my work is a survivor who just had her story published. I haven't read the book yet but a German officer saved her life.

I have not, but I saw a documentary on the memorial at Treblinka. Heavy, heavy stuff. That was the camp that the Warsaw Ghetto was emptied into (minus the Jews who took part in the uprising).
