The whole UNRATED thing is a cash grab 99% of the time, truth be told.
Hell, a studio can CLAIM their film is unrated if they add anything to the DVD that wasn't screened for the MPAA. Like, say, two minutes of additional dialogue.
Like I said, USUALLY the big, red, UNRATED means jack shit.
Now, foreign horror films, on the other hand....that big, red, UNRATED can be a map to TREASURE TROVES of nudity, violence, and gore.

The "UNRATED" versions, 90% of the time are the ones that were rated R by the MPAA, but the studios pussed out and trimmed down to PG-13 for the theatrical release. Which is the reason that I wait for the DVDs of a lot of movies that I want to see. |

Someone once told me that the UNRATED version of the TCM prequel was just balls out GORY. I checked it out....and didn't notice one IOTA of difference from the theatrical cut.

I like how some of Cartoon Network's cuts on Naruto actually improved on the animation. ;D

I think the greatest difference between Theater cut and Unrated DVD cut for me was The Grudge. Watching one and then watching the other is almost like watching 2 different movies, which is odd since it only added 6 minutes, but it also swapped around scenes that gave it a better flow. Also the Unrated commentary uses Takako Fuji as opposed to Buffy who's on the regular version, and Fuji-san is just adorable.  |
