In the new Rolling Stone magazine, Alex Van Halen is quoted as saying, "It's great, but we've already got the (reunion) out of the way. We can't just keep going out and playing the greatest hits, we've already done that twice in the last year. Dave's comin' up, we got some new stuff we're trying. When we nail it down, that's when we're going back (on tour). I don't think it'll be that long. You never know. Our fans might just get a present next (2009) Christmas." I'll believe it when I see it.

I believe it. the way I see it is this. Eddie made good with Roth because he wanted to play live with his son, and he was not gonna try it with Sammy again, and it was high time he and Dave tried to bury the hatchet anyway. It seems they're still getting along, and Eddie has written a ton of stuff over the past few years. Im psyched for it

Yeah, but he said the exact thing when they were still with Hagar.

Given that Eddie has been back to rehab in the last couple years, was having on-again-off-again nights on the first two thirds of the tour, and that they've managed to make much of the music industry step into "not care mode" when it comes to the Van Halen legacy, I'm with Rocky. I love 'em, but piss on 'em. If the songs are of the caliber as the three new ones from BoBW, they can save it. Semi-industrial crunch-crunch guitar from Eddie and what has become the most predictable rhythm section in rock music isn't musical growth, it's trying to prove you haven't gone the way of Poison.

Their 2 songs with Roth were better IMO and I'm expecting something like that. It won't be like 1984, but I'm honestly excited for it

Well said, couldn't agree more. Alex has been talking out of his ass for, well, forever. I'd sooner believe a Pink Floyd reunion tour than a new VH album.

However, you have to take what AVH said with a grain of salt. This is the same guy that said "The original Beatles will never play again and Van Halen will never play again with Roth" back in 2004.
