so i just got a 2nd job! I work full time as it is, but with a new house and bigger rent, I figured a part time job wouldnt hurt for awhile!.. Anyways i got hired on as a telemarketer! The cool thing about the job is though, I get to do it FROM HOME! Its jsut 10-15 hours a week and Im told i need to call between 100-125 people a day! Ive never done anything like this but i liked the idea of a very small part time job, working from home, and talking to people! I have a gift for gab i think!
Anyways does anyone have any info about this job? Have anyone ever done it? Im not a telemarketer who calls a persons house and tries to get them to buy something, the company i will be working for is called Data-tel communications. They are a company that i think helps small business's and stuff with their computer needs and such. Like servers and all that.. to be honest im not for sure at all. I put the resume in last week and got the call back today!
I have a meeting with him next week, where we will discuss exactly what I will do and all that jazz. 11 bucks an hour to sit at home and call people, i dont think its a bad deal at all!..
he said they send you a list of number to call. You also keep track of everything and at the end of the week you email him all your information.
Basically im wondering, has anyone ever telemarketed? or more importantly done it from home part time?

Never from home, but I've worked for two firms, one for AT&T (customer satisfaction surveys), and one for various charities.
The first one suuuucked, the second one wasn't as bad but still wasn't something I could do for a long period of time.
The from home aspect seems cool but still, expect people to treat you like crap. Be charismatic on the phone but not too over the top. It helps to just talk to people rather than sticking close to a script.

I used to sell cell phones over the phone. I sucked at it and got fired.
