You know P90X, Total Home Gym, Solo-Flex, or whatever it is to get you in shape. Why is it in about 99% of the cases the "before" guy or girl is basically already in the top 10% of people to begin with.
I find it hard to believe that "I was in the worst shape of my life" when you look like you weigh maybe 185lbs in your before picture.
If they really wanted to sell me on a program they'd whip out the 450lbs guy that went from flab to ab, not the already fit guy that went from ab to super ab.

Heck, I'm still waiting for the opposite side's ad to come out: "I was a rail thin, miserable skinny little bitch, until I discovered FAST FOOD! Now thanks to McDonald's, Dairy Queen, KFC, and Sonic, I gained 50 pounds in ten weeks! I went from an A-Cup to a full, bursting C-cup, and I've never been happier....plus my boyfriend LOVES my junk-in the-trunk butt, and my Buddha-belly. Thank you FAST FOOD!" Hey, MaxxAwesome....you and I should get on that commercial....ASAP! ;D

Plus it makes me laugh when you see somebody like Chuck Norris using some shitty ab roller or some other useless gimmick and claiming that's how he's stayed in shape his whole career. Somehow, I doubt it. I work out frequently and have been a gym rat for a long time, and I guarantee you will never meet somebody with a Randy Orton/John Morrison physique, ask how he got it, and be told "Ah man, I just do 20 minutes a day on the Boflex!" Sorry, it doesn't happen. It amazes me what people will pay for, rather than invest in a decent treadmill, a set of dumbells and a healthy diet.

Basically they take people that were in shape at one time and then got injured or had to take time off from working out for some reason. Naturally these people put on some fat while down. Of course since they are probably already the types that gain the fabulous bodies easier due to genetics and such they just get back into their routine for a while and then take hte after photo making it look as though miraculous change happened.

It's because people want the immediate gratification of a quick fix with little investment of time. So we'll keep seeing ads for the Perfect Push-up, the Perfect Pull-up, the Tony Little Gazelle, and so forth.
Get off your asses, get moving, and get your sweat on.

I actually did P90X and the reason the people they show in the before picture are already in good shape is that this is a hardcore program that definitely wouldn't be for everyone. I was in decent shape when I started and now I'm in really good shape. I started over once I finished and when I finish my second time around I plan to be in great shape. The creator of it has out right said that the p90x program goes against conventional infomercial logic (i.e. it's so easy, just 3 times a week for 20 minutes a day). It's not easy, it's hard, and you need at least (sometimes more) an hour a day 6 days a week. And I legit could barely walk by the 3rd day. It was seriously that tough. But for anyone that is reasonably fit to begin with and wants to take it to the next level, I honestly couldn't recommend this program more.

www.beachbody.com/product/fitness_programs/best_sellers/p90x.doHmmm....nutrition guide....supplement advice......well, hell, at least he's not lying to you and claiming his product and his product ALONE will make you look like he does. He's telling you right there that you need to cut out the f***ing Suzie Q-s and beer, and get some decent vitamins, as well. Points to him for that.

Funny how they never show people working out on such machines WHILE there fat, only after they lost x amount of weight.

Of course since they are probably already the types that gain the fabulous bodies easier due to genetics and such they just get back into their routine for a while and then take hte after photo making it look as though miraculous change happened. Yup. That's the gimmick. Most often these type of folks eat a lot more than normal folks because they have better metabolisims. Look at all the food Michael Phelps eats in a day, for example. Most of these folks when injured or unable to work out keep eating the same caloric intake even though they aren't buring the same amount of calories as when they were active. So they can really get pretty fat quite quickly. For this, look at any retired wrestler or football lineman. Vader comes to mind...but if the hitatus is breif and the person hits the gym and trained like they did pre-injury, they would probably burn off the weight quickly thanks to that good metabolism.

I am not in the best shape but I keep wanting to try P90X but I to have heard the "if you're not already in decent shape then it will be way to hard." stuff. If you have the money to spend on it, I recommend it. If you get it and find you're not ready for it, put it aside and work until you do feel ready. There are 12 dvds, some muscle training and some cardio. Even if you're not ready to do the program as it's intended, you could probably do some of the cardio workouts and just work your way up until you are ready. But if you dedicate yourself to it, you may surprise yourself with what you're already capable of. Either way if you're looking to get in shape, start sooner rather than later (god knows how many times I put off working out before finally getting serious). A year from now you'll wish you started today!!
