And it's a trend I actual like, actual reality shows.
That is to say shows such as Ice Road Truckers, Axe Men, Deadliest Catch, and LA Hard Hats where they document the comings and goings of regular human beings doing their regular jobs. None of that contrived Road Rules, Big Brother, Real World fake reality stuff, just interesting stories about regular people, it's sort of a throw back to the days of shows like Cops.
Anyone else a fan of these?

I figured people watched Ice road truckers to see if anyone will fall in and there'd be some kind of disaster. Kinda like auto racing

Nah...
Reality show will always feel scripted to me, no matter how hard they try.
As a matter of fact: reality tends to be BORING and repetitive. Not something you can't make a good reality tv show out of.

le sigh - Reality Television.
I'm just glad hulu is out there, otherwise I'd probably never watch TV shows at all.

I've gotten more into Ice Road Truckers lately. pretty good series there but of all the "dangerous jobs" reality shows, Deadliest Catch is by far the best.
while original reality shows like Survivor, The Amazing Race have really gotten tiring (I mean, whats left for them to do that hasn't played out already?), shows like Ice Road Truckers and Deadliest Catch are a nice escape

Without a doubt these shows are staged as well but I'd still prefer seeing regular people that some dumb celebs any day.

In my book anyway I dunno, the fellow with one arm on Axe Men and any number of the big fat guys with beards on Ice Road Truckers look about as regular as it gets.

My dad really likes Ice Road Truckers and Axe Men. Then again, he also still loves Survivor.
I agree, some of them don't seem as bad as most of the older shows (although I'll admit, I used to watch Road Rules like mad up until around Las Vegas when I just grew tired of it and still I'd catch the big marathons of Road Rules Challenge as I liked some of the older characters like Miz) Beyond that, I watch COPS fairly regularly and did watch Dog up until his "incident".
Plus, "regular programming" has picked up a decent bit, imo, since those days so there's not much complaints in my book.

Not a big fan of shows like that. I work all day, so when I come home to watch TV, I don't really want to watch other people doing thier jobs. And yes I know actors and werstlers are doing thier jobs too, but they work in entertainment. Watching them is the whole point. Still, I think there is enough room out there for shows like this, and if people like it, and want to watch them, I don't have any problem with that... unless its my roommate and he is hogging the tv with another Deadliest Catch marathon. He can smurf off.

I like Dirty Jobs, Deadliest Catch and Dog the Bounty Hunter. That's all the "reality" TV I can stand.
