The movie was ok, but it was not at all like the book. The book was pretty much Watchmen, but for villains and not as awesome as Watchmen. what Watchmen are you reading? Heh. I think he means the 'real world' concept. But yeah, they're light years apart.

no that's not the the reason. the reason really, is that the book is god awful. yeah I have to agree, the more I think about it. Millar's a great writer when he has an editor, but when he gets to write however he wants, he goes way too overboard. and that condescending speech at the end about how we're all worthless because we don't use our non-existent super powers to be douchebags didn't help. the movie is much better/

I don't mean it was EXACTLY like Watchmen, just it gave a gritty more real world but still clearly fictional look at villains, like Watchmen did for superheroes. In Watchmen the only hero with REAL powers was Doctor Manhattan, everyone else's powers were being in peak physical condition, being good at hand-to-hand combat, skills with weapons, being smart, etc. Granted in Wanted they went with more people having powers, but it was like Watchmen...kind of. Just not as good.

I actually liked the ending BECAUSE it was so over the top and silly. Made me laugh.

Even the antagonist in Watchmen was only doing an evil act for the greater good.

They were every day people who had feet of clay that happened to have powers- that was kinda the point, " what if real people actually had these gifts/decided to put on spandex and 'fight crime'?" they wouldn't necessarily be heroic or villainous. Just people outside the norm.

Even the antagonist in Watchmen was only doing an evil act for the greater good. It was just a little joke about how all the characters were morally ambiguous. I mean, The Comedian was called a hero even though he was a horrible man who had no regard for human life. Ozymandias killed millions of people in order to prevent a war. There were ways in which they were heroes and ways in which they were villains.

True, but of course, Ozymandias' mass murder was for the "greater good". Comedian, however, did what he did just because he thought it was funny. So really, if anything, the Comedian is the closest to a true villain.

I really liked this film. Reminded me of action films of the 80s like Robocop and Commando just good silly fun. Yes it was a silly movie that did not take it self too seriously.
Unlike The Happening a silly movie that took it self too seriously and that sucked the big one.
