Twisted Metal Black was awesome, and I remember playing Twisted Metal 2 for an extremely long time when I was a kid.

I own Black, and it's a great game.
Of course, I need to go talk to my friend in my gaming club who has all 4 Twisted Metal games for the PlayStation (1-4, that is, not Small Brawl).

small brawl was TM for 3rd graders. Twisted Metal was good, although I don't personally like the controls or the dumb referees. Twisted Metal 2 was deep fried gold. Seriously, play as Minion and own everybody? Yes please. Twisted Metal III was good save for the dumb controls. I liked the level design and the movies were ok, just not as good as part II. Plus a Rob Zombie soundtrack. Twisted Metal 4 seemed to try to mimic 2 but was unsuccessful. Still a good game although some of the characters sucked. Calypso was NOT one of them. End movies again not as good as part 2. Twisted Metal: Black is more deep fried gold. Love it. Great soundtrack, great controls, great movies. Characters are dark and great storylines. Only disappointment was Minion: seriously, he's frickin' Roadkill from part 2? WTF??

The original series of games (Twisted Metal, World Tour, and Black) are by far my favorite. The only way I'll buy a PS3 is if they make a true Twisted Metal 3 or at least something to renew the series, perhaps a remake? I got a PS1 solely for TM2, a PS2 for Black, a PSP for Head-On, and I'm patiently waiting.

Mr. Grimm had a great story line. "See, I had developed a taste... for Human flesh"

First two were pure awesomeness. Three and Four were okay. Didn't play any after that, though.

I never understood the hate 3 and 4 got. I thought 4 had some great ideas in terms of weaponry and level design.
Plus, Calypso had to be the most unbalanced character in that game second to Col. Warthog.(freeze, 3 proximity mine, remote bomb and special = over half health damage)

I don't like those games, but Black had some amazing cut scenes and stories. I wish they could make a movie out of it.

After TM2, SingleTrac was bought out by GT Interactive (which published Doom II) and produced Rogue Trip (a spiritual sequel to TM2) and Critical Depth (think TM underwater). SingleTrac closed up shop, and the original SingleTrac team formed Incog Inc. (now Incognito Entertainment), which produced TMB, TM: Head On, and PS3 Warhawk.

I remember playing Black and then watching the cutscenes...that's some truly disturbing stuff right there. I had nightmares No-Face was going to punch my face in with a knife covered boxing glove. Great game, but by God, someone had to have some issues while making those stories.

Twisted Metal 1, 2 and Black are all great games. 3 sucked and I never played the rest.
Rogue Trip was badass as well. Critical Depth was alright.

Mr. Grimm had a great story line. "See, I had developed a taste... for Human flesh" Mr. Grimm also had a kickass special. One hit could take down Minion's shield... though it was a pain tring to hit the sides.
