from Blabbermouth.netLINKIN PARK Frontman Blasts 'MTV Video Music Awards', Talks Solo Project - Sep. 16, 2008 According to The Pulse of Radio, LINKIN PARK frontman Chester Bennington blasted the 2008 "MTV Video Music Awards" in an interview with Entertainment Weekly last week. Bennington, who attended the September 7 awards show, was disappointed in the lack of rock acts represented at the event. He said, "Where were FOO FIGHTERS and NICKELBACK? Or even a band like THREE DAYS GRACE, who had a pretty big year? There was no VAMPIRE WEEKEND or DAUGHTRY. It was very one-sided." The singer described the show itself as "raising the bar of confusion and disarray. The 'VMAs' are consistently cluster****s, and this year set a new standard." Bennington noted that "you had people who were invited sitting out in the streets. Plus, everybody was texting, no one was watching the show. I got super bummed out." But the vocalist's main criticism was that the "VMAs" are appealing to less and less people, saying, "I think the 'VMAs' have completely lost touch with a broad scope of music. It was very bubble gum and Disney, which is why bands like FOO FIGHTERS, and everybody else in my group weren't there." Although Bennington didn't think his band would win anything, LINKIN PARK did in fact nab a "Best Rock Video" prize for "Shadow of the Day". Yeah, I kinda saw that tone when he accepted the award, and basically gave it away to his bandmate. Thoughts?

While I agree with him with Foo Fighters and 3DG, but Nickelback? They in all shape and form represent the bubblegum rock that Chester was tirading against. I'm glad Chester is speaking the truth but don't bring smurfing Nickelback in the same sentence as Foo Fighters!
Besides, Foo Fighters won 2 grammys this year, with that I wouldn't show up to the POS VMA's.

Nickleback isn't bubblegum Disney stuff. You may not like them, that's fine. Call them crappy, shitty, whatever you won't (I personally laugh at how bad people think they are, because there are a lot worse bands). They aren't Disney bubblegum though.

The linkin park vocalist is complaining about the VMA's being too pop and Disney-friendly?
Wow.
And why does this network have an awards show for something it doesn't even play?

Nickleback isn't bubblegum Disney stuff. You may not like them, that's fine. Call them crappy, crapty, whatever you won't (I personally laugh at how bad people think they are, because there are a lot worse bands). They aren't Disney bubblegum though. The problem isn't just that they are bad, but they are bad and redundant, plus when people say their songs all sound the same, it is pretty much true. Oh, and they seem like chump stains.

That's not my point nor what I'm arguing though. My point is Miley Cirus and the like are bubblegum Disney pop. Not Nickleback. My opinion of Nickleback has nothing to do with this.

Their first CD was pretty cool. After that though they didn't really come wout with anything that was near as good. I think they were meant to be one hit wonder but they have a big canadian fanbase since they are canadian. Damn canadians.

When I heard that Britney Spears won three awards, including their supposed best...I knew that this thing had to be bad.

You know...I was hoping this would also involve telling Jordin Sparks to shut the hell up, but I guess that's too much to hope for.

This is my question, too. Uh, guys? What the hell? Linkin Park is far from pop or Disney-friendly. ESPECIALLY their recent album. They pretty much made sure they aren't pop or Disney-friendly.

While it may have been an over-exaggeration to call them pop or Disney-friendly, I'd still say they're not too far from being in that category. And I say this having being subjected to a fair amount of their music.
