Does anybody remember Sunday Night Heat on Channel 4? I remember we first got Heat and Smackdown on the same weekend in late-1999, and whilst I was glad we finally got Smackdown, I was more excited about Heat because it meant I could watch WWF TV in my BEDROOM~! Hey, I was only eleven. ;D Another thing I remember is when it was still shown at 4pm on Sundays, sometimes if they were showing a cricket match or something and it over-ran, they just wouldn't bother showing Heat, or even mention that it wasn't being shown - which used to piss off this eleven-year-old. Anyway, because it wasn't shown, in the school holidays they used to put it on the next day around 10am which meant it was part of that T4 thing Channel 4 do and when Dermot O'Leary used to introduce Heat he would always take the piss by using a really sarcastic tone and doing some generic wrestling pose. I still haven't forgiven him for that! ;D I mean fair enough, it was show full of mid-carders and jobbers but I liked the little things they did on the show. Like when they announced at the start of one show that the main event would be Tazz versus Pete Gas. Then they went backstage and it showed Gas reading the chalk board where all the matches for the show were written on and seeing he was set to wrestle Tazz and freaked out, so he changed the name on the board to Rodney. A little later you saw Rodney reading the board and freaking out, so he changed the name to Joey Abs. Then Abs saw the board and freaked out, but Tazz was standing behind them and knew what was going so he scrubbed off Abs' name on the board and wrote Tazz versus The Mean Street Posse. That's how I remember it anyway, but I'm sure someone will correct me. It was so simple but made for some whacky skits and made a meaningless Heat main event seem a bit important. That sort of thing, along with the match and the "puff pieces" they used to show like The Rock making his new music video or some wrestler on set making a commerical, made it a really fun one hour show. I have fond memories of watching Heat every Sunday afternoon. I miss those days...

I remember Tazz vs the Posse very well!
Ah.... good old Sunday afternoons - munching my roast enjoying Angle vs Rios or Test vs Saturn....
*sigh*

I still remember the first time I ever watched it... Little did I know what I was getting myself into.
It was all the WWF I got, since I didn't have sky, and this was after they stopped showing Raw/Smackdown (whatever it was) on Channel 4. Shame they killed it by putting it on at midnight, and then axing it altogether.
Favourite Heat moments, anyone?
Mine was the time they had Jeff vs Christian & Edge vs Matt on the same show, then to punish them for interfering, Commisioner Regal put E+C in singles matches against Taker & Kane the next week.
Gutdangit I want my Heat back!

The best one was Christian getting a Light Heavyweight title shot (for "double goldage"), but he needed to shed weight to be able to get the shot, so he borrowed Kurt Angle's chicken suit. Mick Foley egging him on during this was awesome as well.
Naturally, Christian ended up losing the match anyway.

I loved Heat back then! When I first got really, really back into wrestling around January 2000 I didn't have Sky. So I had to watch Heat to be kept up to date. About three of four months later I got Sky though and I haven't missed a Raw, Smackdown or PPV since. I'm such a hopeless mark!

I don't remember that as I never saw WWE back then. But I do remember some 1 hour WCW program being broadcast on Channel 5 every Friday at 6pm in 2000-2001, that I always watched in my room and loved. I have memories of it that I'm not actually sure occurred now, or at least, occurred the way I remember. But I was only 8.
Ah, them were days. Channel 5 had the best 3 hours of Friday night TV around back then. Crystal Maze or Fort Boyard from 5 till 6, WCW from 6 till 7, then The Mole from 7 till 8.

And who can forget the greatest re-debut of all time.... GILLBERG! Haha! In my naivety I actually believed that Gillberg returning was a big deal. Didn't he return to face Essa Rios? I seem to remember Essa Rios winning that match got him more over in my mind than he should have been, simply because I thought Gillberg was a big deal. The joys of being 13!

Favourite Heat moments, anyone? JUST JOE~! It was the same thing every week. Joe going up to Wrestler A and saying Wrestler B had been talking trash about him, thus leading to a match between wrestlers A and B. Every single week. Until some wrestler realised what he was doing and beat the crap out of him. "Hey, don't shoot the messenger!" Joe's entrance video was the greatest thing I've ever seen. Either that or when Stevie Richards was dressing up as other wrestlers. One week he teamed up with Essa Rios and called himself Stevie Ricardo, which was greatness. But it got even better. Richards came up with the idea of to make him and Rios the number one contenders to the tag titles. He and Rios challenged The Acoyltes, who were doing the APA gimmick, to a match, and payed them not to turn up so Richards and Rios would win via count out and become the number 1 contenders! I don't remember that as I never saw WWE back then. You're thinking of WCW Worldwide, complete with "KABOOSH!!!" Batman graphics. I used to watch that show as well, but I seem to remember it being on from 7pm until 8, not 6pm until 7. When I used to watch Worldwide, It's A Knock Out was on after from 8 until 9. Those were the days...

I recall moments and/or stuff from Nitro and Thunder being shown on it. There were red ring ropes too- I remember this cause i remember a Booker T vs Scott Steiner match, where Steiner put Booker in a tree of woe then went outside to grab Booker's neck and stretch it back against the buckle. It may have been 7 till 8, I don't really remember. The Mole only folowed it for a few months, as it was a short lived program, so It's a Knock Out may have followed it before then, but I don't really remember as it was so long ago.

Damn i used to love Sunday Night Heat, no really i used to try and record every episode. I realised it was nowhere as good as anything else WWE had at the time and still is'nt but for a 12 year old this was like gold! My family did'nt have sky so i used to check Raw and Smackdown results on the net then go to a freinds house to watch the ppvs. I have several favourite Heat moments. Once the main event was Kurt Angle vs Esaa Rios and i'll be damned but it was probably the best match in Heat history, actually every Essa Rios match on Heat was brilliant. Rob Van Dam and Jerry Lynn had there only WWE match in history on Heat, although it was still a good match i was saddend that when i heard most of the match had been cut out because it was too long Even Triple H wrestled on there once defending the Title against Hardcore Holly, the match sucked but i was just excited about the fact that i got to see one of the top guys on a lame show. The match included a Jericho run in aswell, i was i heaven!! At least Channel 4 got a few PPVS out of it: Royal Rumble 2000 and 2001, Backlash 2000 and 2001, Armageddon 2000, Fully Loaded 2000, Invasion 2001 and Vengeance 2001. Brilliant

Brilliant I hated them as they were censored, they cut x-pacs tiny amount of blood at 1am, they then got a bit touchy about the content despite it not breaking any rules and that lead to PPVs being on box office. Worse of all they failed to censor Mae Young's puppies, where was the RTC when you needed them.

But at least we got to see Jericho win the Undisputed Title, i'll never forget that.

The thing which pisses me off is that why were parents letting their children watch something broadcast at 1am? I know the timeslot was due to the time difference but still... It's because of those parents we lost C4 WWF + PPVs.

Didn't Essa Rios re-debut and win the Light Heavyweight title same Heat? With Lita?
I remember Just Joe fondly, aswell as the occasional appearances by the main show stars.
I had sky, but no sky sports so I used to watch Smackdown and Heat for the Raw recap. Sunday evening hasn't been the same since lol,
Seems strange to think that the PPVs were on normal free telly though, but the adverts used to be so annoying

Channel 4 treated the WWF programming like dirt and were directly responsible for me stopping watching in 2002, because they treated the fans like crap in the process by never telling us when something was cancelled or moved, or where it was moved to.
The final straw was when they cancelled the 2002 Rumble two weeks before showing it, and without announcing it, as best as I could tell, anyway.
I remember Heat, though. They showed it on the Royal Rumble night, first WWF match I ever saw was Christian vs. Kurt Angle on Heat, and of course Angle then jobbed to Tazz that night.
