Has anybody played those 2 games? Are they any good and worth the monthly fee?

I played CoV, its OK, not great but the character creator is AMAZING and incredibly fun to play with, once you get in the game its all downhill however.

I've played them
Not bad games, actually I liked them so much that I always have to check out NCSoft MMORPGs.

I find the games very enjoyable... the character creator as mentioned is damn awesome,
though towards the higher levels it can get kind of boring.

Well, I don't tend to like MMORPGs at all, and I'm a really big fan of COH, so that's saying something.
I'd say it's worth the fee if you like the gameplay.

I loved CoH and creating characters is the best part. I found that after level 15, it became a bit of a grind, but I think they added new missions, storylines and the economy system to help with that.
I haven't played in awhile because I have such a slow computer that missions always took forever to load for me. So, I was always slowing teams down especially when I was a defender.
I believe NCSoft has a free 1 week trial if you want to try it out mrrotten to see if it's worth it for you.

It's the only computer game I ever liked enough to buy and then play for more than a couple of days. It's a more enjoyable experience if you have other people to team with in the game, though; otherwise it can get a bit boring at times.

I played CoH before they introduced capes, and it was really good until you got to lvl 20. As said before, the creator is awesome, and has plenty of customization options. I usually made a character that looked like someone else, like I had a AR Blaster that looked like Roadblock from GI Joe that I named Boddamassage.

I have played off-and-on since the Closed Beta of City of Heroes. Now the two games, City of Heroes and City of Villains, are merged into one $15 monthly fee.
There is definitely a lot of content to go through, on your first character there is probably no way you'll see all of it on your first time around. Which is why they implemented the 'Flashback' system, where it temporarily reduces your level to the appropriate range for the story arc that you choose to play through.
The character creation is very good with lots and lots of options, that alone is worth the trial download.
If you don't have a group of friends to play with, you probably will not enjoy the game. If you don't get into a good SuperGroup, you probably will not enjoy the game. If you prefer to solo in games, I'd suggest playing something else. I run Task Forces (think long, uninterrupted Story Arcs resulting in a fight against an Archvillain) nightly with my SuperGroup, it's a blast.

I love the idea, but I haven't tried it before. I played WoW but I bored of it. I really enjoy Maple Story, though.

Here's some info on their next game, Champions Online. It's due next year on PC and Xbox 360. It uses an updated version of the CoH engine and is based on the Champions RPG. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Champions_Online

Only a few of the developers that worked on City of Heroes are on the Champions Online project. It does look interesting, though.
