I was gonna post this last night, but was tired and lazy and forgot.
I was heading downtown to the grocery on foot and passed a local "yard sale" house that's been selling stuff for the past few months daily. (I guess they need to sell the house and they're sons in jail and stuff, I bought some stuff from them a little after they started, but I'm fairly broke now.)
Anyway, they had a few boxes of free stuff outside. A good bit of VHSes, but I still had to go to the store so I didn't want anything taking up room. Still, I stopped and looked in two boxes of small stuff and found my self filling all my pockets up with whatever looked like crap I might possibly use someday.
So here's the list...
"Old School" Arrow Stapler, in *great* shape with staples in it still. It's not the "desktop" kind, but rather handheld grips, sorta like those wrenches that lock in place.
A crappy Japanese lighter that's in awful condition. Dunno why I picked it up, besides that I collect lighters.
A crappy necklace with a blank dog tag-esque little plate on the front with a generic chain with the little metal balls. I never wear jewelry, but my bro does, so I got it for him.
A "half gun" metal old schol pistol. I think it might be a belt buckle. It looked cool and I might find somewhere to mount it someday.
A pack of old matches from a clothing store a few towns away.
A Smokey the Bear plastic letter opener. Still in the pack! I needed a letter opener too and this one goes great with my free MC Hammer "HAMMER TIME" neon orange 6" ruler.
11 little containers of .7mm mechanical pencil graphite. And one bigger container with .5mm (gave it to my dad)
a ring box half full of those little "tack" nails. (gave it to my dad)
a car lighter (gave it to my dad, I guess he switched the one out from my mom's car as it was crappy and acting up this one looked brand new)
Oh, and a SWEET keychain with a thermometer built in. On the back it has a chart where you can use the temperature and wind speed (mph) to figure out the chill factor (how cold the wind feels on exposed flesh).
All in all some awesome stuff. I was gonna go back today for VHSes, but it was raining (and it looked like it was gonna rain last night, so the woman said she was taking the stuff inside).
I got a metal detector from them a while back, but it's broken (and I can find no reference to the product online). Still, the two 9 volt batteries in it were good AND name brand Energizers.
