Am i the only one who thinks a GTA game with a 50s setting would be good? Greasers, drag racing, chuck berry on the soundtrack, cool 50s cars, etc. Give it time. With sequels, they can still go into the future or the past. Grand Theft Carriage: Tombstone Edition. I would prefer a spinoff name like Highway Robbery. A little more contemporary, and you can also get all colonial with it. Think of it: Boston Tea Party, and kidnapping a Tory to tar and feather.

I dig the Oregon Trail idea somebody mentioned. I'm still holding out hope for a Grand Theft Auto: Motor City.

Holy crap, I totally forgot about that game until now. I think I remember seeing a trailer for it possibly 2 years ago. It's still coming out? Man, here's hoping that perseverance pays off. Also, Mafia was f***ing amazing on PC many years ago. If anybody played the crappy ports on the PS2 & Xbox, sadly you were not playign the game as it was meant to be played. I really can't wait for Mafia II to come out... Or Alan Wake, for that matter, either.

I'd love to see a GTA set in the late 60s/early 70s. I could really see it fitting that era quite nicely - you could even have the Vietnam War as a backstory to the main character. Starts off as a soldier coming home from his tour of duty, etc...there could even be missions there... There was the civil rights movement, all kind of protests (that could be part of the game) and the big blackout/riots that happened could also be missions you have to do (say you cause them or something). The music, the clothes, the tv and movies out then - they could have a field day with this. That actually sounds pretty cool. Thank you... I'm also dying to play it big time. Probably the next game will be set in Vice City and then San Andreas after that? If they went back to Liberty City, I wonder if they'll keep that trend going.

I must be the only Gun fan on this board I would love a 50's style GTA game, however.

I was trying to figure out the excitement over a new mafia game.
