Seriously? I really thought it would be Suppan, given his playoff experence.

Well, considering the Phils beat Suppan pretty bad a couple weeks ago, they probably want something different.
The good news for the Brewers is that the Phillies have a habit of blowing it against unknown pitchers. The bad news is that if he doesn't come out strong, this is not an offense to mess up on.

Granted but even with Suppan getting shield I would think that a team with a bunch of young hitters starting a young pitcher with only a handful of starts this year with no play off experence on the road against a team that has playoff experence is gonna be a distaster. Of course I could be wrong.

As an observer with the Yankees erased from playoff contention, but mildly satisfied with the Minor League Mets choking it away again, I have two simple requests.
1. Los Angeles Angels of Orange County, Anaheim 92806; Please, Please, PLEASE, act like a 99-win team and not get anally raped by the Boston Red Sox in the ALDS. The ghost of Donnie Moore is counting on you.
2. Any National League Team: Vanquish the Chicago Cubs. Because if there's one National League team I dislike more than the Mets, Braves, and the Diamondbacks, it's the Chicago Cubs. So, please, Joe Torre & Man-Ram, send National League Red Sox packing early so the real baseball team in Chicago can remain on the throne; the Chicago White Sox.

Actually, he has only started one game since May 1st, and it was like two weeks ago.
I'm guessing their strategy is just give up game 1, then hope to pull out game 2 with Sabathia, try to win game 3 with Suppan and pitch Sabathia again on short rest.
Really, the Phillies should take this in 4. I think they'll either drop game 2 or 3, but they should be able to beat them without much trouble.

Looks like the Twins are booking plane tickets to Chicago tonight. Which is bullcrap. I agree with what is being said on Mike and Mike in the Morning, the Twins won the season series 10 games to 8, and now have to go to Chicago to get in the playoffs. If Chicago wins, the Twins still have a winning record against them. But couldn't win a play-in game, where home field was decided on a coinflip. The Twins winning the series wouldn't have meant shit.

The Twins winning the series wouldn't have meant crap. They use the coin-flip because the playoffs are all about luck, not skill. The best team doesn't really win it all, and it's been that way since the beginning. Anybody really think the Cardinals were the best team in 2006? I rest my case.

Last night, Darrin Jackson called his last TV game for the White Sox after 9 years, as his contract is up. Steve Stone will move from the radio booth to call games with Ken "Hawk" Harrellson next season. Stone signed a 6-year deal before this season.
Darrin was offered a position calling games with Ed Farmer next year. DJ is still unsure about next season, but more than likely responded with his classic line, "It is what it is."
Whomever takes the radio job will be Farmer's 4th broadcast partner in 5 years. (John Rooney left after the 2005 season, Chris Singleton was there for 2, Steve Stone this year and then the next guy.)
