I don't care if there's still a match-up left to be decided, I'm making my playoff predictions (Note: These predictions are 5% scientific and 95% biased):
ALDS Rays over Twins/ChiSox (3-1) Red Sox over Angels (3-2)
NLDS Dodgers over Cubs (3-1) Phillies over Brewers (3-0)
ALCS Red Sox over Rays (4-3)
NLCS Dodgers over Phillies (4-2)
World Series Red Sox over Dodgers (4-2)
(And no, I wouldn't rather have it any other way).
And what the hell, my 2008 awards:
AL MVP: Dustin Pedroia NL MVP: Albert Pujols
AL Cy Young: Cliff Lee NL Cy Young: Tim Lincecum
AL ROY: Evan Longoria NL ROY: Geovany Soto
AL Manager: Joe Maddon NL Manager: Lou Piniella
(And yes, these are the same choices Jayson Stark made on ESPN.com. He clearly copies my work 3 days before I post it.)
______________________________
Slightly off-topic, but how much of an injustice is it that Albert Pujols has only won the MVP award once? Two of those three years he finished second, the roided-up Barry Bonds stole it away from him.

I'll see you your predictions, and raise you MY predictions: ALDSTwins over Rays (3-1) Red Sox over Angels (3-1) NLDSCubs over Dodgers (3-1) Phillies over Brewers (3-0) ALCSRed Sox over Twins (4-2) NLCSCubs over Phillies (4-3) WORLD SERIESRed Sox over Cubs (4-2) Allow me to let it be known that the "Red Sox winning the World Series" prediction, albeit insanely biased, is also based off of the potential for Josh Beckett to be at full strength going into the ALCS and World Series. If the Red Sox lose to the Angels, then replace "Red Sox" with "Angels", going into the World Series. Also, if the White Sox win tonight, replace every "Twins" prediction with the words "White Sox". AL MVP: Dustin Pedroia, Boston NL MVP: Manny Ramirez, Los Angeles AL Cy Young: Cliff Lee, Cleveland NL Cy Young: CC Sabathia, Milwaukee AL ROY: Evan Longoria, Tampa Bay NL ROY: Geovany Soto, Chicago AL Manager: Joe Maddon, Tampa Bay NL Manager: Joe Torre, Los Angeles Almost wholesale ripped from you, I admit, but those are my honest beliefs.

I almost wanted to make Manny and CC my NL MVP and Cy Young winners, respectively. I wouldn't be surprised to see either win. At the very least, they'll get a ton of votes. I can see Manny ending up 3rd in the voting (Behind Pujols and Howard, with either of those two winning), and CC coming in second behind Lincecum.
As for the playoff predictions, mine rest on the fact that Jason Bay can play at a respectable level against the Angels. I'll be perfectly honest: I don't like the idea of the game resting on his shoulders in a big spot in the late innings. Youkilis will get enough IBBs to make you think he wears the #24 and has dreadlocks, and Scioscia will make Bay beat them. I can easily see Bay putting up a 2-for-17 with 8 K's as the Angels win in 4.
But then I realize that I'm way too biased, and choose to ignore the potential disaster that awaits.

I may as well get in on this party:
ALDS Rays over White Sox (3-2) Angels over Red Sox (3-1)
NLDS Cubs over Dodgers (3-2) Phillies over Brewers (3-0)
ALCS Angels over Rays (4-1)
NLCS Cubs over Phillies (4-3)
World Series Angels over Cubs (4-2)
I'm rooting for the Red Sox above all others with the Cubs and Twins just behind (assuming they can even get in), but these Angels are the scariest team in these playoffs. I doubt this is going to be another Red Sox over Angels ass whooping, though I'd love it!

ALDS Twins over Rays (3-2) or Rays over White Sox (3-0) Red Sox over Angels (3-2)
NLDS Dodgers over Cubs (3-1) Phillies over Brewers (3-2)
ALCS Rays over Red Sox (4-2). Prompting Sox fans to bitch, moan, and complain six times as usual.
NLCS Dodgers over Phillies (4-3)
WORLD SERIES Dodgers over Rays (4-2)
That's right, folks. Joe Torre's taking the brass ring this year. :/

ALCS Rays over Red Sox (4-2). Prompting Sox fans to bitch, moan, and complain six times as usual. Not sure I understand this. The Rays are a better team, plain and simple. I've said this for a while now. I won't be shocked or surprised one bit if Tampa takes a series against Boston. I wouldn't complain any more than usual. Me thinks you're just trying to find a way to get a jab in against Red Sox fans. Then again, if I were a Yankee fan, I'd be bitter myself after the last 6 months in the Bronx. _______________________ Nice to hear Harold Reynolds' voice again. I miss seeing him on ESPN.

Wow, I thought that was a pretty shallow flyball to run on.

It was FAR too shallow to try and go on. What a wasted opportunity.

Yeah, although with only 1 out it's a chance you might have to take. Especially considering how well Danks has pitched. But yeah, no surprise he was out.
AJ did a great job blocking the plate, BTW.

And is it just me, or does Alexei Ramirez look like the next Soriano? I couldn't help but that think after his GS yesterday. Rail thin, lots of power, doesn't walk a lot. I thought the batting stance was pretty similar too. And Alexei is probably the better defender, and will only improve his power numbers as he gets older.

I guess I should pick
NLDS Phillies over Brewers (3-1) Phillies blow game 2 or 3, but will beat Sabathia coming off short rest again.
Cubs over Dodgers (3-1) Cubs are just better. Dodgers steal one, but I don't think they can push this
ALDS Rays over Sox/Twins (3-0/3-1) Rays win either way, but if it's the Twins, they'll get one game. The White Sox will be too worn out to beat the Rays.
Red Sox over Angels (3-2) IF Beckett's healthy and pitches Angels over Red Sox (3-2) IF Beckett is too hurt to pitch effectively. A really good matchup, but without Beckett the Angels hold a slight edge. But if Beckett goes, they can beat the Angels.
NLCS Phillies over Cubs (4-3) Counting on the fact that the Phillies curse is less powerful than the Cubs curse. Plus Hamels gives us a shot to at least split against Zambrano, and Moyer will pull of a magical performance at some point.
If it's the Red Sox Red Sox over Rays (4-2) Red Sox have the experience, and they'll have Beckett. Rays will become overwhelmed with the pressure and won't be able to take a game in Fenway.
If it's the Angels Angels over Rays (4-1) Angels are better and I don't think the Rays have the motivation to beat the Angels as they do the Red Sox
World Series Phillies over Angels (4-2) Ok purely homerish. I think by this point the Phillies will be too motivated and the Angels will get a bit overconfident.

I can say with 100% confidence that if the Rays eliminate the Red Sox, I will inevitably bitch about it. But not about the players or anything on the field. I will bitch because 30,000 bandwagon jumping fans will celebrate a trip to the World Series, three months after they remembered they even had a baseball team in the first place. If there is one group of people that do not deserve any form of success, its Rays "fans". I'm sure there are real Rays fans out there, but they are few and far between, and they sure as hell aren't the ones going to Tropicana Field and banging cowbells for three hours.

Danks is doing all this on short rest. Quite a feat.
This game has instant classic written all over it. Here's hoping it goes 14+ innings so Mauer can go 0-for-7 and give the batting title to Pedroia.
