As good as this match was, imagine what a Cactus Jack and HBK Street Fight would have been. Umm, pretty much the same thing. Hardly, considering how into the Mankind character he was in this match. I think this is his defining match as the true Mankind character, especially with Paul Bearer as his manager.

All his characters have the same basic moveset.

NOW we're talking!

Great, great match. Both guys were just clicking that night. My favorite Foley match and my second "obscure WWF PPV match" behind Canadian Stampede's Hart Foundation vs. Austin, LOD, Shamrock & Goldust. In my opinion, Foley's best match and HBK's best match of his first WWE title run. I remember marking out at HBK's jump from the ring apron, slamming Mick's head off the cement floor. I have still yet to see the Canadian Stampede match. I'm waiting for someone to release it on DVD.

I remember a pen pal I had that was a big WWF fan at the time (took me a while to convert her to ECW). Anyway, she was so stupid, she went around her school, trying to get some sort of petition to send to WWF to ban the Mandible Claw. She was such a f***ing HBK mark that she couldn't bear the thought of him facing such a terrible move.

Does anyone know what the original finish was supposed to be? Obviously, Vince changed it (and they practically showed every minute of that on tape), but what was supposed to happen originally?

This matc had great psychology going into it. You saw how "dark" Shawn Michaels was willing to be to get down to Mankind's level.
Slammign the head, stomping on fingers.... greatness.

It's been said at least 1 million, sixty seven thousand and 381 times, but (excluding the BS ending) this is truly one of the best matches of the 90's and probably my favorite Foley match ever. The image of Mankind stabbing his own leg to regain feeling, Michaels realizing the things he would have to do to put this crazy SOB down...it told a great story.
BTW, HBK should have ditched Jose Lathario after WMXII.

Foley's greatest match. Ever.
Although the match with Randy is a close second in my mind.
