Whatever happened to WWE releasing Blu-Ray DVDs?
I was excited when Wrestlemania was announced in Blu. I was hoping since everything is being taped in HD now, they would release all PPVs in Blu-Ray...or at least the big ones(Mania, Rumble, SummerSlam, Survivor Series).
Anyone know what's up with this? Are they just doing Mania on Blu-Ray for now? Were sales so bad for Mania that they scrapped Blu-Ray all together?

How do I put this nicely... As Blade Braxton once said 75% of the wrestling audience are toothless hillbillies, 25% are normal people like him and RD (if you count blade as normal), and 25% were shut ins and cripples. But realistically, take a look at your stereotypical wrestling fan and they don't really have the means for Blu-ray yet. I do, but heck I have all my teeth, a full time job and a college degree. Remember when they began to offer DVDs, the first and only for quite some time was Wrestlemania XV. That and keep in mind Vince really just wants to fire up his reel to reel machine.

I'm assuming Vince doesn't know what a Blu-Ray is. Honestly, I wasn't all that impressed with the Wrestlemania Blu-Ray disc. Anyone know what kinda sales figures it did?

They are waiting until more people buy Blu-Ray players and Blu-Ray releases. WrestleMania was kind of a test-run for them. Right now, it is just not economical for them to release Blu-Rays because many more people still own DVD players and buy DVDs and they basically feel that DVDs still work just fine. WWE would lose money developing a lot of Blu-Ray releases when the market for Blu-Rays is just now starting to develop.

I read on Wired that the entire Blu-Ray market is down right now. Players are starting to get under $200 and most retailers are worried that they're going to have a ton of dead stock Blu-Ray players and movies after this Christmas.
