Strange seeing Eggnog recipes, as it just seems like something that emerges from the store in some magical way out of thin air for 3 months a year to me. You can actually make the stuff yourself?

It wasn't always a store produced thing. It became far more popular in store bought form due to the fact that people freaked out about salmonella in raw eggs. The homemade stuff is far superior, and given that you have about a 1 in 20 million chance of contracting salmonella from raw eggs (or far less if you use pasteurized eggs), I'm willing to take the risk (just like I'm willing to eat my omelette curstard-like in the middle as they're supposed to be, eat my eggs over easy, and use raw eggs in recipes that call for them to be served as such).

Yeah it's definitely interesting to know that you can make the stuff at home.
I may have to give this a shot sometime soon. Thanks for the recipe.

Just use really fresh eggs if you do, or use the cooked method provided there (which was created in order to assuage people's fears of getting salmonella). Enjoy. You'll impress the hell out of your friends.
