Yeah I stayed up at a friends house to watch this.
There was something about the Taker at those times, maybe my age to, but I had this eiirie feeling with the build up and the match itself.
The "taker makes casket" promos before hand really were pretty scary.

I remember that giant casket got used for quite a while after the Yokozuna Undertaker feud. I seem to remember them destroying it at a show in Pittsburgh though so that was probably the end of it unless maybe they built more to wreck at other shows.

As someone that was at that show live, the build up and result was great,in my opinion of course.I remember being 7 years old and had the crap scared out of me with the green smoke coming out of the urn when it got cracked open. One of the first matches where I remembered being completely enamored in the storytelling of.

When I was little and watching this on PPV, I was a mark and thought this was the coolest thing ever.
Now, it's pretty cringe-worthy.

Wait....I missed something I guess. The Great Kabuki was in WWF during this period?

I remeber watching this when I was younger, and I thought it was really good. Looking back its not the greatest but it still gives me that warm nostalgia feeling. And yeah I think Kabuki only worked the Rumble IIRC.

I used to LOL at Bam Bam covering the casket so Taker couldn't break out.

I loved that match - and Dibiase on commentary. Why do they not look at bringing him in - especially given Foley is now gone? I digress - great match although you still can't see very much of the levitating Undertaker. And Vince yelling "the apparition" still makes me laugh.

All the wrestlers coming out and Bigelow covering the casket left an indelible mark on me when i was kid.

I like watching stuff like this just because of how extremely little things in it can take new meaning years later. For instance, this may very well have been the first time the two future members of Kronik worked together in the same match.

To top it all off didn't this lead to Chuck Norris being the enforcer to make sure nobody interfered in the re-match? Leslie Nielsen may also have been involved.
My memory is pretty sketchy so these could have been completely different times or strange and wonderful dreams.

I prefer the rematch from Survivor Series 94. You know, the one with Chuck Norris as special enforcer.

So what was the reason for Taker having time off. I wouldn't have thought he'd want to miss Wrestlemania X.

My memory is pretty sketchy so these could have been completely different times or strange and wonderful dreams. Leslie Nielsen was involved in the set of skits trying to find the Undertaker before Summerslam 1994, around the time that Dibiase brought in The Under-faker. They fought, Real 'Taker wins, you know the rest. Undertaker then went on to fight Yokozuna in a casket re-match at Survivor Series 1994, in which Norris was the enforcer and fought off the heels. 'Taker wins, and Yoko was not seen until he was announced as Owen's tag team partner for Wrestlemania XI.

I just loved the concept of all the heels ganging up on the unstoppable face. I remember marking when Undertaker tried to fight them off and actually did so for awhile.
Of course, at the same time, I'm like "where are all the faces?"

Of course, at the same time, I'm like "where are all the faces?" This is of course the age old question of: Heels always help each other out and faces never seem to care about the others. A close relative to to the question of: Why do heels accept wrestlers who have just turned heel but faces never accept wrestlers who have just turned to their side?
