Blade, is this the first time you've ever posted on Wrest of Wrestling? No. How's that for a thread bumping answer?

Whitman was a great prformer no doubt. But there were so many other legendary t-birds. the fastest woman on skates in my opinion Skinny Minnie Miller, and dont forget the mens squad with freddie futura and the only man in roller derby history to be an active skater and in the hall of fame at the same time," the living legend" Ralphie Valladeres. I could be worng but I remember a major rivalof the LA T-Birds beng the Detroit Devils. The most annoying "heel" owner was Miss Georgia Hass, although I acn not remember which team she owned. I remember watching it on ESPN in the '80s; mainly because my parents watched it as well. They would tell me about watching Ralphie in the '60s and '70s at the Chicago Ampitheater, so my interest was peaked. (By the '80s, I think Ralphie was IN his 60s & 70s.) Ms. Georgia Haas (emphasis on the "MIZZ", back in the days of feminism) owned the Devils. I don't think they really had a city affiliation. They also had the Bombers and 3 other teams, but MIZZ Haas was friendly to all the "bad guy teams" (teams that weren't the T-Birds). All these teams had guys built like linebackers and nose tackles, while the T-Birds had skinny runts and pug-like Ralphie. They had a storyline about Randi when she was the new girl. Ms. Georgia Haas claimed she had her contract and Randi would have to roll for the team that played against the T-Birds. Of course, Randi would do something to make the "bad guys" lose a jam and score no points, them Ms. Haas would go over and berate her to no end. My favorite was Debbie Garvey. Short blonde hair, nice smile, cute. I have the "50 Years Of Roller Derby" book somewhere in my house; I'll try and find it if anybody's interested. (Cost was $2.00 for a 24-page "pamphlet" about roller derby history.) Funniest thing I seen on these shows was the "fitness minute". I think they had Freddie and that one chick with the California wild blonde hair and the overly dark suntan showing us how they warm-up before a match. They were using their skates to do arm curls and stretches, then the blonde tells us, "Of course, if you don't have roller skates, you can use cans of soup." (The hilarity never ended.)
