I saw this tv I was eyeing at Walmart and it looked decent for the price but I'm skeptical of buying it because its Walmart. Should I take a chance on a tv from there or are Circuit City/Best Buys the best places to buy tvs ? If the model is a few years old should I avoid it ?
Also are there any specific brand names I should avoid because they are lesser quality and dont last as long ?

Worst place to buy one would probably be in a McDonalds. Why they'd have it, I have no idea, but I really wouldn't buy one from them.

I've heard Costco and Sam's Club are the best because of their lengthy return policies.

I wouldn't get anything from Circuit City right now given their shaky financial standing.

I really don't think there is a bad place to buy a HDTV except for some fly by night shop.
Just do some research and find one that you like and compare prices.

The one I liked you could only control with the remote. There was no control panel on the unit. I assume most tvs now are like this. Its been ages since I bought one.

As long as the store has a good return/waranty policy, I don't think it really matters.

Big Lots...dont even buy electronics from Big Lots...everything is refurbished and nothing is under warranty...I worked there a few years ago and saw some really shady and surprising stuff go on
