I'm surprised nobody mentioned Big Show. He has two WWE title reigns to his credit, but neither were credibly booked. The first reign especially, during that reign, he was having a mid-card feud with The Big Bossman over his dead father, and was far from the focus of the show. The WWE championship had nothing to do with that feud other than a match they had at Armageddon 99.
JBL at first, but he later shaped into a credible main eventer.
Even at 9, I couldn't buy King Mabel in the World Championship chase.
And what business did Sid have main eventing a Wrestlemania?

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Big Show. I'm not. The guy is freaking massive. That alone makes him a credible opponent for anyone.

As much as I like him I'd have to say CM Punk.
On the other side of the coin I'd have to say Rey Mysterio since not only don't I see him as a main eventer, but I don't even want him anywhere near the main event. Punk at least I'm pulling for.

While he's not a main eventer, Matt Hardy has never screamed 'brand champion' to me.
