The smoking thing, i think I see why it was mentioned. Several former WWE employees have said that Vince HATES smoking. Therefore, I can see him, being the boss, doing the "stronly suggest" method to get people to quit simply so he won't have to be around it.
As a smoker, I say light 'em if you got 'em Randy. Hell, we all know the job and being on the road has to be stressful, so if a bit of nicotine gets him through instead of going the booze and drugs route so many have, what's the issue?

I can't believe no one has made the obvious joke yet:
"Randy Orton may or may not have a smoking problem."

It's not certain that they were talking about cigarettes when they said "smoking". We are talking about Randy here.

Alledgedly.

I saw CM Punk smoking outside a house show once.
It smelled kinda strange, too. Almost like cloves, but not quite.

I think the issue with Orton smoking as opposed to others is Orton doesn't have the stamina like others do. I mean, it's obvious he gets tired easily and that is why there are so many restholds in his matches. If he stopped smoking, which I might add cannot hurt you in any way at all, he might be able to do more things in the ring he can't do now in danger of coughing up a lung.

I actually don't agree with this at all. I see nothing wrong with Orton's stamina. Like I said earlier in this thread, his matches with Shawn and Edge in particular show he has no problem keeping up with two more fast paced guys in the ring. Besides, Orton looks to be the only guy in the company who doesn't rest during a "resthold". He's always working it. Cranking back, wrenching in on the guy, moving around the mat to make it hurt more. It's just part of his in ring style.

I wonder if Connecticut has a "lifestyle rights" law. If they don't, Vince would be perfectly free to legally test his employees for smoking tobacco and would be perfectly free to fine or fire them if they failed the test.
Or maybe he can just make a punishment like a $1,000 fine for it and be mad if people continue to accept said punishment.

I think drug testing for weed is ridiculous, but Vince is within his rights to do so. If the law in Connecticut would allow him to test for tobacco, he certainly could, and could use a number of reasons to do so...most of the reasons being along the line that the health of his performers effects his bottom line. Of course, this depends on the state laws. In Colorado he wouldn't be allowed to. But in California he could. Here is a company in Michigan that tests for nicotine. You can go on and on about it being a legal product, but when you open one can of worms with drug testing in general don't be shocked when it crosses a line you consider to be ridiculous. www.law.capital.edu/tobacco/workplace/casestudies_weyco.html

I can understand that, the problem is that he is definitely still resting while doing those holds, he's just making it look better. Orton doesn't exactly have a stellar moveset might I add. From what I've seen, he can do punches, clotheslines, chinlocks, Garvin stomps, an inverted backbreaker and the RKO. I probably missed a suplex or something in there but w/e. Another big thing is no matter how many times he uses the chinlock and does something different to add pressure, it doesn't change the fact that it's still a chinlock and only a chinlock. I mean, give him an armbar or something. Apprently he does a lot of chinlocks to soften them up for the RKO or something and I can understand that, but he can't do that for half of the match, which is what happens everytime. He probably has horrible stamina, which would be the basis for half a match of restholds, even if you aren't "resting" you aren't exactly being as active as you would be throwing people off ropes and suplexing them. I know that it's "old-school" heel type stuff, but that doesn't appeal to the masses anymore. I certainly do like his technical wrestling prowess, but it just gets boring to watch. Orton really needs to mix it up a little.
