Good to here that you can use your walker and be on your feet walking longer than before. Just keep it all up. Is there anyway you can adapt you bathroom in the intirm to help you preserve your knees?

Maybe invest in some kneepads. It may sound like I'm joking but I'm serious. I don't know why it would sound like I'm joking but in my head,it does. One of my friends has had multiple surgeries on his knees and they still give him problems so I know the effects of knee problems. That would be my best advice but perhaps others would have something else. It would be best to get them now than have it effect you in the long run when you are finally able to walk again.
Edit:I see Rube mentioned it as well so now I feel better that I don't come off as joking.

Is it possible to keep the walker right at the bathroom door, or would that make it too hard to get around the place for you/others?
Kneepads or some kind of cushioned floor mat (places like Bed Bath and Beyond sell low-impact kitchen floor mats to save the legs of hardcore home cooks. Combined with kneepads, and there might be a winner. Maybe it could be adapted for the bathroom floor. Likely is nonskid as well, so good for the use.

Put in a wider door? Set up some Paralell bars for walking with your arms? Kneepads?
