OK, ladies and gents! I am making the preparations on a game for the iPhone/iPod Touch(since, well, anyone can make games for those two....systems....and it is an easy way to make some bank, like the banker who single handedly developed Trism and the game has been out for a little over 2 months and has made over $250,000 from the game already).
I'm having trouble deciding on a name for it. So, I'll explain my vision for the game and then you guys vote for the name you think fits the game best.
Ok, what I'm planning is a point & click survival horror game(like the early Clock Tower games and Silent Hill: Orphan for cell phones), set 37 years in the future from now. The protagonist, Kody Duncans(based on my name, duh), has at this point several encounters with towns and buildings throughout Oklahoma that were infested with otherworldly demonic creatures. Kody returns to his home, where he hasn't been since he left for college at the age of 19. Something.....bad....happened here. His family is no longer there, in fact, no one has lived in the house for 36 years. The thing is, no one knows what happened to his family, and the case was dropped after a decade. Being the investigative freelance journalist that he is, Kody decides to get to the bottom of things, but things aren't as Kody expects.
Now, the reasons behind the names I listed:
- Welcome Home refers to....well the "Welcome Home" saying. It is an ironic name because of no one being there and all....and the house being infested with demons.
- Homecoming is the same irony and such as Welcome Home is, but carries more weight as he hasn't been back in decades.
- The House, well it is self-explanatory, and I thought of this because for the longest time I had this idea for a survival horror game called The Reporter which would be Kody's first encounter with demonic creatures, just a few years after getting out of college.
- Lyrewood, well that's the name of the street my house is on, and the house in the game is to be based on my house.
Also, you may be rolling your eyes on the idea of a survival horror game of any kind being based in Oklahoma, but DAMN man, this state looks creepy as hell, especially in the fall, and most of the towns in the state look like they could be a real life Silent Hill, especially the towns abandoned as a result of the Dust Bowl.
So....yeah.....get to voting damn it!
Also, tell me what you think of my idea. It isn't original in one bit, as it is heavily influenced by the Silent Hill series, mainly the aforementioned cell phone game Silent Hill: Orphan(which I suggest everyone should get. For a cell phone game in the Western world, it is awesome), but I love horror, I love video games, and I've always wanted to make games.
Besides, I already have some experience in game development. I led a 3 man team in developing a tic-tac-toe game made on outdated Microsoft Visual C++ software.
