While I think Billy Dee is a good actor I don't think he has the range to carry Two-Face. He was fine as a background Dent but the emotion needed to portray Two-Face I just don't see in him. Perhaps, but while Tommy Lee Jones had the acting chops to do so, he was not allowed to actually do so properly. Yeah, that's the sad part. Tommy Lee Jones was actually the first actor signed on for the movie, and he did so when it was still tentatively a Tim Burton/Michael Keaton Batman film. Then it all turned into a neon campfest and Tommy Lee was contractually stuck.

I would've prefered Bill Dee Williams to portray Lucius Fox in a Tim Burton Batman universe. Maybe the fanboy, purist in me doesn't like it when filmmakers cast an actor whose ethnicty doesn't match the characters that they're portraying.

Tommy Lee Jones however, had previously worked with Joel Schmuacher on a movie called "The Client" (where he played a prosectuor like Harvey Dent) and the producer, Peter Magregor-Scott on "Under Seige" (where he played the lead villain, like Two-Face was in "Batman Forever").

What about if Robin Williams had played the Riddler like originally planned?

Yeah, and that's where the really murky water starts. I think it's a common misconception that Joel Schumacher's vision for Batman was fruity. He wanted to make serious and gritty Batman films, but Warner wouldn't let him after the overall bad response to Batman Returns. They pushed him so hard to make it lighthearted and he really just did the job he was hired to do. I think because of his sexuality people just instantly assume it was Joel who made Batman so "gay" when really it was Warner Bros.

I don't really have a problem with it, as long as the characterization is otherwise the same. I wouldn't like it if they made Harvey talk more "ghetto" or whatever, but at the same token, I don't recall there being a lot of talk about Harvey skiing in the comics ('cause we all know how white people love to ski*). *Note: I'm white...and a lousy comedian, apparently. ;D
