Any given week these 3 types of films come out, which one are you going to spend your hard earned Mesos on?
The remake that your friends have told you was great, the sequel to the movie you liked 2 or 3 sequels ago but probably isn't quite up to snuff this time around, or the totally new property that probably sucks but hey at least it's new.

The remake, of course. Why? Because it is a good movie. I prefer to watch good movies.

The great re-make.
Why would I go to a movie knowing/thinking it's gonna suck?

The great re-make. Why would I go to a movie knowing/thinking it's gonna suck? The only way I'd do that is if: 1) I was dragged to it by someone else. 2) I'm a movie reviewer, and thus being paid to see it.
