I always kinda figured that you can't magically place the time-travelling Marty with the Marty that has always been in that 1985, so there would either be another Marty lurking around that town... or somewhere, that Marty just randomly disappeared into thin air. The original Marty's time-line shifted, yes... but that means he'd be in a different time line... one he's not supposed to be a part of.. so basically in "fixing" the present, he actually created an entirely new one that has the exact same chance of hitting a paradox as any other time he jumped to.

If it's a movie, then what am I doing with a bunch of weapons grade plutonium and a DeLorean with a Flux Capacitor and *shot dead by the FBI*

Back to the Future IV would have been a great movie. It would have been better than either II or III to me.

Back to the Future IV would have been a great movie. It would have been better than either II or III to me. The first one is the best but I also kind of liked 2. 3 was okay but not near as good as the other two.

The movie Primer was all about what would 'actually' happen if you went through time and changed the future.

I always gave it the benefit of the doubt and assumed that any evidence of Doc Brown's involvement with terrorists was destroyed in the fiery crash.

Well, when Marty goes forward in time in Back to the Future 2, we see the possible future he would have had, had he continued along with the bad attitude he had. Seemed like everything was ok and he didn't spend any jail time. I think the timeline wouldn't have been as different for Marty as everyone thinks.
