Damn, that's pretty crazy to hear. I don't think I've ever actually been to one, but seeing all these companies go bankrupt is downright depressing.

Thats a damn shame. That was the job I was at previously. I quit in November in order to move for school. I still have friends that still work there. Damn shame. I had a feeling the holidays were going to make or break.

Aw crap! That's where I bought my car stereo. There's a rather large store in my local mall, so that is going to be a heck of an eyesore. It kind of makes you really fearful for the future...

I feel bad for the people but I never feel sorry for the business its self. Theres always more reasons then the "economy" such as treating customers badly, or having higher prices then its competiors. Its just a free market balancing its self out

I'll be watching for the closeout sale! Don't expect much, the liquidators are going to raise the prices above normal. Don't in at the early stages to buy stuff, because you would be getting ripped off worse than if you went before liquidation. *REMINDER* If you have gift cards for CC, use them NOW.

It was the only store of its kind in my town so I used to go there frequently. It was very convenient because it was like a 5 min drive away. The Best Buy is in the next town over and its a bit longer drive. I will miss the convenience of it being close by but Best Buy always had a much larger variety of stuff than CC did.

Just remember, for every store that closes completely, it's one step closer to an all Wal*Mart zone.
So think about that before people wish good riddance to a company.

I never wish good riddance to any company. Big or small, corporate or mom & pop. I just wish success for everyone.

Not to mention all of the people who are going to be out of jobs. I have a lot of friends that work at a Circuit City so this depressing news.

This bites, though I also don't know where the closest Circuit City is. The one I knew of was one of the first that got shut down during the fall. But I did buy my Zune from their online store. Snagged one of the last 80 gig ones they had for $175 (including shipping). So I will miss them just because of that deal.

This should give Best Buy a good shot in the arm, and as they're considered a much better store than Circuit City. But yeah, my best friend's brother works there, so I can't really mock CC's demise myself either...

While it is sad news for those who work there or shop there, they writing has probably been on the wall for years.
I stopped going there alot when they tried to foist the divx technology of DVD players on us. The closest one is over an hour away from me, and I used to go there to check on prices and hard to find CDs when the Best Buy across the street didn't have one.
Then Walmart started springing up everywhere, and with Amazon and other competitors, I can see how the local one lost business. The last time I set foot in one I was treated rudely by the sales staff and couldn't find what I was looking for. So I started shopping elsewhere..
There has to be reasons besides just the recession why this store chain went belly up.

I have one friend who's going to be extremely disappointed by this. The one close to where he goes to college closed down when they shut down a bunch of stores a few months ago (The one nearer to our hometown stayed open). He constantly took advantage of the deals they had going on there.

I'm waiting to see what ramifications this has on the Canadian stores, seeing as how "The Source by Circuit City" took over Radio Shack a couple years ago.

Don't in at the early stages to buy stuff, because you would be getting ripped off worse than if you went before liquidation. Definitely! I got fooled when CompUSA was liquidating and impulsively bought a hard drive. After I got home, I found it was $10 above the price in other stores. Lesson learned! It won't stop me from going to CC looking for the bargain, but now I'll check out the prices online before to get a general idea... and then wait until the last couple of weeks when all those "% off" signs are actually true.
