I can agree with this, even if Shingo, Morishima, and Joe deserved to be top ten.

So HBK's #1 because he ended the so-called 'greatest of all time' career at Wrestlemania, huh?

This is Powerslam remember. They have their clear faves that they have rose tinted spectacles on for. And others they despise that everyone who likes them is an idiot.

It's like they chose a bunch of Random Japanese dudes, then chose the ones who've they've seen and put them near the top.
Shouldn't that be more "our favorite wrestlers this year" more than "wrestler of the year"
That really should go to Chris Jericho.
I hate it when smarky magazines who do no stories on Puro all of a sudden make their top 50 list full of japanese wrestlers and indie guys who nobody really cares about.
It's like OMG my list includes no Japanese guys the "purist" will label me a a mark OMG.
Seriously, there's not even one luchador on the list, and lucha libre's had a record year in terms of attendence.

WTF how is Cena/Batista not there, and half these wrestlers i dont even know Cena..MAYBE. Batista I don't even know how anyone could think he was one of the best wrestlers in the world. Though Batista is ranked #27. Which is odd because out of the current state of WWE workers, Cena> Batista by a mile

I always enjoy the PS 50, it's way above the PWI 500 which is generally just who ever wins the main event at wrestlemania (I'm probably really wrong about that... Malenko won it one year now I think about it... oh well.) I think it's a more interesting read as it is based around in-ring work rather than 'who won what storyline'. That said I think it could do with having a bit more Lucha in it and I'm sick of the token Brit bringing up he end of the list... think it was Pac last year.

So, Jay is better than Mark? I think that's because mark missed a few months this year... didn't he smurf up a shooting star press and smash his head open?

I think who made the most money in wrestling is the most objective way to see who really is the best. Workrate doesn't matter at all.

Yes I just finished reading that magazine and it is a very unbalanced article. Like someone has already posted it would appear to be their favourites rather than the actual top 50 of the year.
Like them or not, Cena and Batista have to be on that list.
The article also rants about Jericho (even though they placed him 24) saying that he is "not as good as he thinks he is". Most bizarrely it talks about what a poor year Jay Lethal had yet still places him in the top 50.
There are alot of Japanese/Japanese based/independent athletes in this list. Now I cannot comment as I freely admit I know nothing about Japanese wrestling, but there is a distinct feeling that the people at Powerslam have placed alot of the more obscure athletes there just through "ooooh look how much I know about wrestling that you don't" elitism rather than actually through the talents of the named athletes.
The magazine tends to make sweeping statements as well and has been annoying me for some time now. They often state something as fact when it is opinion - even though they have no evidence to back up what they are saying other than internet rumour or personal assumptions.
Best example I can think of was in last months issue when they were reviewing the Hell in a cell dvd and they were talking about the Mankind v Undertaker match. They state something along the lines of: "Mick Foley takes two huge bumps, one of the top and one through the cage (BOTH of which were planned.)"
The magazine seems to have issues with Mick Foley based on what I do not know. Certainly however it has been said many times - albeit by Mick Foley on his DVDs and in his autobiographies - that the second fall through the cage was not planned and the cage gave way unexpectedly. Why Mick would lie about this I do not know as I fail to see how it furthers him in any way. Yet for some reason and based on evidence that they do not volunteer, Powerslam see fit to call him a liar and state it as fact that the spot was planned.
There are numerous examples like this but can't be bothered going through back issues right now!

I'm pleasently surprised that Martin Stones made the list He's a pretty good young wrestler. Anyway how has Rey made the list and not Cena? Cenas had a great year whereas Rey hasn't done much at all...
