It didn't offend me, per se, but whenever I heard "You suck $%#@," it was like, surely you can come up with someone more creative than that. This is Philly we are talking about. Not the social club of Yale and Harvard Graduates. LOL ;D Flair is dead bothered me a little bit. "FLAIR IS DEAD!" But I saw him on Saturday Night having a match with Ricky Steamboat, and Steamboat had a Ninja in his corner.

"You f***** up" always has and always will annoy me. As was said, if it's something where the wrestler takes it in stride and pokes fun at himself, then laugh and chant away. When two guys are in a grueling match and one of them slips off the other trying for a tornado DDT or something, just keep your mouths shut. They aren't perfect, neither are you.

Seriously, if you're offended by a chant, you're probably watching the wrong sport. It's hilarious that people find the "You F***ed up" chant tasteless, but yet a man can drive another man through a table that is on fire and that's fine?

"You can't wrestle" always bothered me, because when you think about it, 9 times out of 10 not one of the people shouting that chant can either.

"You can't wrestle" always bothered me, because when you think about it, 9 times out of 10 not one of the people shouting that chant can either. Yeah, but none of the people in the crowd claims that as their *PROFESSION* either. I have coached in my day, and I don't expect any of you to know how to do that on the level that I coach either, but if you're at one of my events and I botch, then you'd be a pretty pathetic spectator not to notice, and I'd welcome the criticism. And I wouldn't expect any of you to know how to do my job in particular better than me, but surely to god you know a screw-up when you see it. It's my job not to screw up. And it's my job to make all those wannabes out there look for any little thing they can pick me apart over and hopefully come up empty. Likewise, there are a million professions out there that I wouldn't think spectators are supposed to be able to do better than the one whose *JOB* it is to do them, but I--and the rest of the population--sure the heck have every right to criticize in a number of those instances. It's checks and balances. If the fans didn't know crap about the profession and the job being performed, then I'd definitely agree. But the majority of them should know what's acceptable and what's not. I do think there are some professions that don't need any stupid pretenders' criticisms', but generally, those are the ones in which the general population don't bother to criticize anyway. I do despise a misplaced "you f'ed up" chant, but the only place I've really ever heard those is in ROH, not original ECW. I, for one, however, freaking loved the "you can't wrestle" chants at Batista and Big Show. That's checks and balances right there for two guys who weren't giving the kind of performance that was expected. And I go back to the coaching analogy. There are some coaches who give a great effort, but if they don't deliver, then they freaking need to be raked over the coals; I make sure NO ONE is disappointed when I'm finished, but then again, I value my job more than some others and have higher expectations of myself than others. Some wrestlers don't, so screw 'em.

I was never personally offended. Although when they chanted "F*** you, Taz!" as Taz left the building during his final show, I thought they were being a little harsh.

I prefer the funnier chants to the nastier ones. For example, in San Francisco, instead of chanting "You're a f****t" at someone (RoH fans, I'm looking at you), chant "Castro's that way!", which implies the same thing but is at least somewhat creative and amusing.

I love the "You smurfed Up" chant, if its a funny botch...like, for instance, (I know this isn't ECW, just an example) I've seen several clips on youtube in Jushin Lyger matches, Lyger's opponent will try a springboard and slip and fall off the rope, and Lyger claps for the guy and points at him and laughs. That's funny as hell....but if someone gets hurt, its tasteless. That was The Great Sasuke.

None, because I remember that Philly fans boo Santa, and have no souls.
Fans in general, though, have a very inflated sense of entitlement. Ignore them.

They broke that one out for Jason Hades girlfriend during the Ted Petty Invitational and I marked. Trust me even if you find the chant tasteless, she was milking it for all it was worth, and trying to get the people to chant it even louder. A true worker I tell ya.

I don't know if offended was the word but I always thought "You sold out" at someone who probably wasn't getting paid consistently was pretty f***ed up.

Agreed on the latter, disagreed on the former. If people are that annoyed by chants they can just revert to watching Japanese wrestling with zero chants whatsoever, which kinda takes away half of the experience of watching wrestling anyway in my opinion.

I remember reading that Sunny came out and talked about Chris Candido (after he died) at that ECW reunion show and the fans were chanting "show your tits".
I dont get offended by pretty much anything but that made me kinda mad. I mean I already absolutely cant stand when a guy cant ever look past the fact that its a girl on screen or whatever, but can you show some respect for Chris Candido atleast?

Generally, if you're gonna watch old ECW, you should know that you have to check all sense of taste and decency at the door. On the night Bam Bam took the title from Shane Douglas in Queens, the crowd gave Rick Rude a "You smurfed Chyna" chant, which I thought was funny as hell. There was a particularly nasty one during the Triple Threat's opening promo at Cyber Slam 98, one inferring Francine would perform sexual favours for drugs. If you happen to watch the video, you'll notice two guys down the front who, when Shane Douglas insults an audience member, basically acts as conductors as if they were in a choir And then Rude responded with "I've f***ed in China, Asia, Singapore, Japan, etc.". Always thinking on his feet.
