Laser Disc. The failed pre DVD and VHS replacement. The they figured out that you don't need a CD disc as big as a large Pizza.

I know the first Wrestlemania was issued on Laser Disc and I knew of this one also. I don't know if there is any more of them though.

I'm sure WrestleMania 2 and the first Hulkamania is on Laserdisc, but WWF Laserdiscs are extremely hard to find.

Just did some quick research. There were four.
LWF001 - Wrestling's Bloopers, Bleeps, and Bodyslams LWF002 - Hulkamania LWF003 - Best of the WWF Volume 1 LWF004 - Wrestlemania
Hope that helps.

What's really funny to me is that these Laser Discs had a lower MSRP, $39.99, than the original VHS releases did, $59.99. Crazy, huh?

Laserdiscs predate CDs. If not for Laserdiscs, we may not even have CDs, because CDs used the same technology.

So you can get high quality footage of kamala eating the live chicken on tnt and the atlas/orndorff posedown.

I guess VHS was way more portable, but I'd take quality over portability.

My science class used a LaserDisc player whenever we watched stuff about planets or astronomy, and we're talking 1988.
It took 3 discs to watch a 45 minute retrospective. And, yes, the things were about the size of a small pizza.
That's why the LaserDisc didn't last long. It's akin to watching a 4-hour rental movie on VHS, knowing that at some point, you'll have to switch tapes.
(CDs were released in 1982, the LaserDisc soon after.)
