A relatively minor player in the WWF of the 80's, he never scored any major victories, won any titles, or was involved in any great storylines (that I can recall anyway) yet he had a certain underdog (underbird, birddog,...YEESH) charisma and the fans seemed to like his act. His bird "Frankie" helped a little, I'm sure. [side note: I recall reading that the original "Frankie" perished in a house fire ] Despite being a mediocre star, he had a hell of a finisher for the 80's WWF: The Ghostbuster Suplex (brainbuster). What are your thoughts on The Birdman?

I thought he was alright, over somewhat with the fans.

Also, for a "Birdman" I dont recall him ever being much of high-flyer.

Also, for a "Birdman" I dont recall him ever being much of high-flyer. Actually he did quite a bit, not very much in the later years but when he first arrived he had a hell of a drop kick off the top rope to where he could actually land on his feet from it. Here's a match where he takes then IC champion Randy Savage to the limit on Wrestling Challenge: www.dailymotion.com/video/x6f443_randy-savage-vs-koko-b-ware_shortfilms

To this day still think that the dude has the best dropkick of all the times, was quite tremendous. But other than that, except for showing a bit of charisma,...never disliked him, just one of those dudes caught in the middle for me.

I first remember him as High Energy with Owen Hart... Having now seen what he was before, he was pretty decent in the ring, and for a guy who was only about 5'9" he survived pretty well in the size obsessed WWF. He had a good deal of charisma...
I think though that Koko should've been a singer rather than a wrestler... He had some pretty amazing pipes on him singing goofy songs like Piledriver... I think Koko would've made a really good motown singer or something like that.

I liked him as a kid. I wanted him to win more because I felt bad for Frankie.

One more Koko Fact: To this day he still brags about being the first person to take the Undertaker's Tombstone Piledriver. [Bill Murray in Caddyshack voice]:"...So I got THAT goin' for me...which is good"

I used to love how Gorilla Monsoon made the animals human-like.
"You can see Frankie here with a look on concern on his face, his man Koko is in trouble"
"Theres Frankie, take a look at him, he knows this is a happening"

I love wrestling now more than ever but those were still some great days to be a kid and be a wrestling fan. Nice find.

I think when I first started watching wrestling, Koko was my favorite wrestler. He just had that something and even if he lost every week, I still loved him. Also, anybody who "plays" bass with the fervor he did on "We Hate School" is a winner in my book.

Possibly the most charismatic jobber ever.

Fan of his from his Mid-South days, but like JYD and Duggan, the magic was gone and let himself go a tad when he hit WWF.

Very underrated talent who never got to shine in the WWF. His Memphis stuff in the early 80's (the feud with Jimmy Valiant and the PYT's with Norvel Austin) was pretty damn good.

Always liked him. Wouldn't call him a jobber, really. He was best known for losing, but he won enough to be legitimate. Heck, the guy took part at 2 Wrestlemanias. Fan of his from his Mid-South days, but like JYD and Duggan, the magic was gone and let himself go a tad when he hit WWF. Really?? It always amazes me that guys I always figured were uber-charismatic (like Hacksaw, and now Koko) were even better someplace else.

Doesn't he still wrestle to this day in Memphis? Last I saw he was a heel in Jerry Lawler and Jimmy Hart's Memphis promotion as just Koko Ware.
