Finally! The second season of Night Court will finally be on DVD come Febuary 3rd. I can't believe it took this long. Hopefully people will actually buy it this time. Season 1 isnt all that good to begin with, but season 2 is where it started getting good. Anyone else excited about this?

I think that when Blu Ray get wider acceptance that alot of older shows like this can have the entire series released entirely on like a 4 disc set or something. That way they can just be released at once and the studios dont have to worry about how well single seasons do and can just get them out so people wont complain anymore. Just my opinion.

Less money in it, that way. There could be less money, but at the same time alot of shows get their first seasons released and then they languish because the first season was so sub par. Its like with Night Court, the first season isnt very good at all, and the show didnt really get popular until they finally had the complete cast that we all know, which I believe was in season 4. While alot of us love them, alot of these 80's sitcoms just dont have that huge mass market appeal that we think they do. Another example is WKRP, the first season of that came out a couple of years ago and since then nothing. Part of the reason is that channels like Nick at Nite and TV Land dont really show them anymore, and local channels dont really show repeats of anything besides whats currently on the air, like Scrubs (which I love), or Two and a Half Men...Or they show stuff from the 90's like Seinfeld and Friends. What that does is make it alot harder for shows like Night Court and WKRP to find a new audience hence selling more DVD's. I saw the first season of Gimme a Break in a store once and I thought, yeah I havent seen a re-run of that show in over 15 years, I'm sure its selling like hotcakes. I know alot of you are excited for Mr. Belvedere coming out on DVD, but dont be surprised if you don't see season 2 for a very long time.

I don't agree with it, but if you're a business, it's not cost effective to give out everything at one time.
Also, if the first season isn't purchased, then who is to say that season four will be?
Although, I feel the same way, as usually chemistry of a show and the peak aren't hit until a few seasons down the road.

I think if its a Niche show with a Niche audience that hasnt grown since its orginal run on a network or syndication ended, you might as well take what you can get, and just charge more for something less people are gonna buy, then it pretty much evens out and everyone is happy. If its something that is super popular...then you can do it as you normally would. The only way to change it is to make people more aware of an older show, which you can do online, but that doesnt reach everyone. I guess some of these shows would have to be broadcast again.

Actually, the first season came out last year, but no further seasons are on the schedule as of now. That being said, I've had the first season of Night Court for like 3 years now. I can't wait to get season 2!!!!
