So after seeing awesome movies like Slumdog Millionaire, The Wrestler, Revolutionary Road, The Dark Knight, and the decent Milk I figured I'd give The Reader a shot and boy this was a huge disappointment.
Now let me start by saying the only good parts are the nudity of Kate Winslet who is very attractive in this movie and for a little bit had me interested as the love affair was done pretty well. However, once that ends so does the movie.
The first actually flowed well and there was some passion and emotion but after Kate Winslet disappeared the second part of the movie floundered and went into the legality and uninteresting questions on morality of the genocide of Jews, instead of sex which was the only strength this movie had. Now if they could have added something new, added depth to the discussion maybe I'd be more open to this but this movie is really just treading water and is unneeded as Schindler's List, The Pianist and Sophie's Choice covered these topics already in a much more convincing way.
Seriously how this film got nominated for Best Picture over Wall-E, The Wrestler, Revolutionary Road and The Dark Knight I'll never know. Total waste of time plus if you want Kate Winslet naked try watching about half of her films all better than this.

I've actually been very interested in watching this film, but it seems that every Best Picture nomination has been hit or miss with me.
I enjoyed Revolutionary Road, and I love Kate Winslet, so hopefully, she comes through in this movie.
