Have you folks heard about this? www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28897426/The P.O. is considering cutting Mail Delivery one day out of the week. Most likely it seems (if this goes through) it will be Tuesday. Now, as most of you know, I'm a Postal Worker. I cannot even begin to tell you how stupid this is. This is Management showing how far up their asses their heads truly are. They waste Millions on useless new Mail sorting machines (Why do we need them if mail volume is falling, you jackasses?), and hiring and creating new management positions. Now they want to take money from us Carriers to pay the tab? So, if this goes through (Which the Union is dead set against) Then I lose almost $200 a week, while some jerkoff with a tie and clipboard will probably get another 5 figure bonus. Downright pathetic.

Why out of all days, Tuesday?
Wouldn't it make more sense to have no weekend mail if that be the case?

Why out of all days, Tuesday? Wouldn't it make more sense to have no weekend mail if that be the case? Because Tuesday is usually the lightest day of the week in terms of Mail volume. And seriously, Ani. You want them to do something that makes sense? Have you gone mad, man?

I did read about this and I think it's such a stupid idea.
I work in a postal sub-station; short version, we sell stamps and postage, take in outgoing mail and serve as a USPS pick-up point. The customer base we serve mostly pisses me off enough as it is. You think I want to try and explain this to them?
I will definitely admit; Bob, you'd defintely get the worst of this when compared to me. Let's hope this asanine idea does not go through.

Seriously dumb. I mean I understand Tues. have the smallest load but, all you're doing is pushing a bigger load to Wend. causing the service to get worse.
Also, a lot of bills come due on Tues. so a lot would be screwed over on that end as well. Then again, maybe FedEx and UPS need some help.

Let's not forget that these clipboard-carrying pukes only work a five-day Mon-Fri week themselves, so they lose NOTHING.

As much as I dont like the idea, I guess to play devils advocate I'd say a lot of people have had to make cutbacks and if the Postal Service is doing it it may be done instead if laying off some workers. I guess its better if everyone keeps thier job and makes a little less than to have widespread layoffs. Wasting the money on machines.. Im guessing theres some ludicrious contract the gov. has with a manufacturor.

Also they are raising the price of stamps again so not only is it one less day of mail service, it's costing you more.

My mother works as a carrier and she's upset about this too. I believe she's been to maybe one or two Union meetings since she started 21 years ago, and has been to 3 this month...
Hey Bob, did all of your mail routes get mixed up too this month?? Mom said that hers is being changed and that it's not just the local post offices, it's nation wide. Do you know anything about this?
