16. The Melancholy of Haruhi SuzumiyaOn the first day of high school a beautiful girl named Haruhi Suzumiya introduces herself as having "no interest in ordinary humans". She asks for any aliens, time travelers, sliders or espers to join her. Watching her weird behavior is Kyon, a guy who sits in front of Haruhi and is the only person that is capable of actually having a conversation with her. Kyon comments on Haruhi's whims which lead her to join every club in school and then promptly quit. Because of this, Kyon unwittingly gives Haruhi an idea to start her own club. Soon after, Kyon and several others (all of whom happen to be conned into the club by Haruhi) find themselves literally dragged into Suzumiya Haruhi's Brigade (the S.O.S. Brigade for short). Because it's probably more popular than the OP, here's the ED: ::::::::::::::: ::::::::::::::: (Will Watch, Won't Watch, and Watched/Watching)1. The Skull Man -- 9, 14, 1 2. Bartender -- 11, 8, 2 3. Planetes -- 4, 7, 3 4. Rurouni Kenshin: Tsuiokuhen -- 7, 7, 3 5. Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo -- 10, 5, 2 6. Gungrave -- 4, 7, 8 7. The Twelve Kingdoms -- 6, 6, 2 8. Legend of the Galactic Heroes -- 4, 7, 2 9. Fate/stay night -- 3, 4, 3 10. Genshiken -- 3, 7, 5 11. Welcome to the NHK -- 3, 7, 6 12. Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann -- 2, 3, 8 13. Ghost Hound -- 3, 3, 1 14. Haibane Renmei -- 4, 2, 2 15. Monster -- 4, 3, 1

Watched it. Liked it; it was an above-average anime overall, and had a lot of interesting ideas and episodes. Aya Hirano, by the way. Aya Hirano.
Aya Hirano.
7/10 for the anime.
11/10 for Aya Hirano
for the record, Shoko Nakagawa is 11.5/10

Hm, I wanted to do this just once, so here goes...
Regular: Many Guro: Hm, probably saw a few in 4chan long ago when I was searching for pics. Scat: Same as above. Ditto watersports. Crossovers: I remember a Negima crossover. Rule 63: Yes. Let me repeat that. Kyonko FTW! Tentacles: Many tentacles. Deflowering: Yes

Deflowering: Yes And let me just add that the majority of the doujinshi for this series follows a pattern. Usually most of them will start off with Kyon screwing Mikuru Asahina, either because Haruhi forces him or he does it willingly without Haruhi being there. After a while, Haruhi will end up feeling left out and basically throws herself at Kyon. This may not be a true majority, but out of all the Haruhi doujinshi I've..."read" which is slightly over 100, this occurred the most.

And then it all slowly started to make sense....and then I went and watched the series in the correct order(because the series is played out of order) and it made WAY more sense.

Yeah, I'm thinking about just watching it in chronological order first (1-14) then the actual order later. Still gotta finish Haruhi before I go any farther on Lucky Star.

Ah, yeah, the messed up order was kinda strange at first, in a way, since I've read the light novel first and I pretty much knew what was going to happen. The school festival and God Knows did surprise me, though.
lol, and what Koda said about the doujinshi is pretty much true. On the other hand, it's a different thing if it's a Kyonko doujinshi.

Watched it. Good, but I think it's massively overrated. Kyon, and to a lesser extent Itsuki, saves the show for me.

dont know if i really would plan to watch it. i recently found out in on of the wrestling chats that haruhi and konata are voiced by the same seiyu. thats cool
and like lucky star i was thrown off and disliked it because of all the hype and such on tons of websites, made me hate it. but when i watched lucky star in November i really liked it. i think i would give it a chance now that the show is finished and not as all over the place.

This is probably the part where I start posting the Hare Hare Yukai vids, and I probably will, later one. But the Hare Hare Yukai using violins? No way in hell that I won't post this:
And, might as well post this to, God Knows on the violin:

Well, here it is, the full dance of the Hare Hare Yukai... is what I'd say, but since I already posted that on the first post (removed it, replaced it with the ED) here's a pretty good remake.
Hell, here's the original full dance, just because.

Not to sound like a hater or anything (I'm not), but anime has really lost its luster in the past two or three years. Most of the stuff that comes out anymore is either action fluff, based around somebody's sexual fantasy, or is full of plot twists and swerves so contrived that it would confuse Vince Russo. Aside from sequels like Genshiken 2 and remakes like Hellsing Ultimate, the only two shows to really grab my attention are Haruhi and Gundam 00. Haruhi is, in a word, brilliant. A completely original idea that is surprisingly well executed. Great stuff all around.
...And about Gundam 00 -- best show on television today. Nuff said.

I watched it, and nearly feel into Cardiogenic shock. (Not really, the show wasn't too my taste)
And remember what I said
Me > Aya Hirano (Who still hasn't accepted my challenge)

Sadly Haruhi isn't all that original, as it is based on a novel.
