that Myrtle Urkel was a human female?
My disbelief couldn't be suspended that high. Even as a kid, it was hard to watch eps with Myrtle--it was like they were trying to test your loyalty. "Would you keep watching if the star of the show spent half of the episode in drag with a crappy Southern accent and made sexual innuendos towards Darius McCrary?"
I gotta admit though: Carl as a Colonel Sanders/George Washington Carver knockoff wasn't half bad.

Well, its the same show that eventually wanted us to believe Steve could split the "cool" alterego of himself out of his own body. And also go into space and help land a space shuttle.

It could have been worse, in his attempts to become cool, instead of Stephan, he could have split his X and Y chromosomes, and that was how there got to be a female Urkle pining for Eddie.

I remember this one episode where it was the basic "dress the plain girl up nice and she's suddenly hot" shtick. Except it was Myrtle so it didn't really work.
So here's Jaleel White walking around arms akimbo in a tank top and mini-skirt (yes, the image was burned into my fragile mind). And that was it. Could've been a hell of a satire...
Hey, they already had a teleportation chamber and a time machine. They may as well have gone all out with the anachronism and written Judy out as an unstable clone that deteriorated by the fifth season.

I don't think they were really trying to convince us. It was more of something in the line of "Jethro/Jethrine" on the Beverly Hillbillies. There was no way to make Max Baer Jr. look like a convincing chick, so they didn't really try.
A comedy schtick, though a played one. And one done better elsewhere.

This show also wanted us to believe that even after everything Laura did to Steve, he would choose her over Myra.

If I ever was as annoying as Steve was to my neighbor, including throwing a bowling ball through their window, breaking their coffee table over 300 times, they would have shot and killed me and dumped me in a river..
..and I have nice neighbors.

I hated Myrtle, and every realitive, and thing that spawned a an Urkel dual role.

I don't mind the Myrtle stuff as much as I do the wacky science mishaffs. Takes away from the "this is about a normal family" aspect.
Also hated how they changed Harriot's character from how she was in PERFECT STRANGERS

...the same show that wanted us to believe that Steve created an evil Urkel robot.

This show is on re-runs but I suspect most of you already know. I've recorded a few to look back. Actually some funny stuff in there, and gotta give it to Jaleel White for his physical comedy and nerdy portrayal that became famous. But my my my Mrytle, oh no no no! Funny though how Darius has got to feel truly uncomfortable!
Oh yeah, and Myra...
Damn! ;D

I think your watching it in the wrong way. Urkel was really quite crazy as he stalked Laura for years! The man destroyed almost anything the Winslows tried to succeed in. Heck did we ever see Urkel's parents? Urkel may have done something horrible to them and no one called the police.
So I look at Myrtle Urkel as Steve taking on a Norman Bates type of role with the Winslows.

Well it was just a wacky sit-com about a "normal" family with the most obnoxious and detestable nerdy neighbour in the history of TV.
I hated that show

I can't remember her name, but I always thought Laura's best friend was the hottest girl in the whole series. My favorite episodes were the ones where she wore her cheerleading uniform.

Thats a show that didn't hold up well. I used to love it on TGIF, now I can't set thru five minutes of it on nick at nite.

And had a better personality. It was sad what happened to the actress who played her ... I can't remember her name, but I always thought Laura's best friend was the hottest girl in the whole series. My favorite episodes were the ones where she wore her cheerleading uniform. Maxine, the gal who dated Waldo?
