Anyway, we're less than a week until the biggest 2D fighter in years comes out on consoles. Who else is really excited?
I reserved the Collector's Edition a few weeks ago. Apparently, it's sold out nationwide. Crazy. I usually don't go for CE's, but all the pack-ins (movie-length OVA, soundtrack, C. Viper or Ryu figure depending on platform, little book with the movesets, a pack of alt. costumes) made it worth it to me. Also looking forward to getting one of the MadCatz SF4 controllers, especially since it'll be a huge improvement over the regular 360 and PS3 controllers.

Biggest 2D fighter in years? Not really. The Smash Bros games have been amazing. And yes I'm saying the Smash Bros games a 2D fighters. I mean if SF4 is 2D, then so is Smash.

Biggest real 2D Fighter in years. In all seriousness, I don't group Smash in with any other traditional fighter, 2D or 3D. Smash is Smash to me. I don't group in wrestling games with fighters, either.

I am psyched for it myself. If I wasn't in a financial slump right now I'd be getting it too. It comes out the same day my paycheck drops, so we will see what happens.

Wrestling. It's its own thing, although I'd sooner group them with sports sims than fighters.

Wrestling. It's its own thing, although I'd sooner group them with sports sims than fighters. But you...you actually fight. Plus wrestling can't be its own category. You may unofficially list it as that, but it has only two actual genres, sports, and fighting. You may not like it, but wrestling games are fighting games, and Smash Bros is fighting games as well, 2D fighting games, even. The only "biggest" thing SF4 is the biggest Street Fighter game in years.

Wrestling games are not fighting games. Totally different format. Just like Super Mario Bros. isn't a fighting game despite the fact you fight mushrooms.

The only "biggest" thing SF4 is the biggest Street Fighter game in years. Oh stop being a Buzz Killington already. Wrestling games' mechanics are pretty different and they have enough features of sports sims, especially the Smackdown games, that I'd sooner call them a sports sim than a fighter. That's why I had a really good laugh when THQ did its "OMG OUR GAME HAS SO MANY MORE FEATURES!" chart comparing SvR09 to SoulCalibur 4 and I think Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. It's all apples and oranges. Also, I do consider Smash a fighter. But I don't consider it a traditional 2D or 3D fighter. Again, completely different mechanics and playstyle and whatnot.

Funny story, I actually posted this video not even a week ago. Those two guys in the car are actually two buddies of mine on there way to Tokyo Game Action (an arcade that closed down recently). So, its still quite a shock to see other people posting this up.
So yeah, never mind me. Continue if you will. :%Pr

Street Fighter 4 comes out next week, we already had our Mortal Kombat and Soul Calibur last year, Tekken 6 is coming out hopefully this year and KOFXII is due out in June in Japan with a US release to follow.
I dunno about you, but right now it's a great time to be a fighting game fan.

Once all those games come out, we'll most likely have another drought.

i dont like it too much but it is better than sf three, i always lose to the sagat players which i hate. other than that the game is pretty fun and playing as balrog in a game where hes one of the top characters is fun.
even though i can play it any time i think it would be better to play on the 360 the problem is do they sell converters so i can play with my ps2 arcade stick?
