I need some suggestion of horror movies to show my girlfriend, who wants to watch the movies with me, but I want to break her in slowly. Any ideas of what to start her off with?

If you want to break her in slowly you should watch stuff like The Ring and The Grudge. Those PG13 type horror films with little blood.

- Fright Night
Rear Window with Vampires. It's a great movie that has genuine creepy moments and a few comedic moments.
- Demons/Demoni
It's Absolutly silly, Makes little sense & badly dubbed But it's a DAMN fun movie that is also creepy.
Plus it has a badass character called Tony the Pimp
- Nightmare On Elm street
Nuff said
- Halloween (Carpenter's)
A classic in every sense of the word
- Scarecrows
Avoid garbage like "The Ring" and those other PG13 Remakes (Along with ANYTHING from Platinum Dunes) because they're best forgotten or better yet go for the originals.

I would say the original Nightmare On Elm street is pretty scary the first two are the others are either just lam bad or creepy.
You could try I Know What You Done Last Summer the first one is decent but the 2nd sucks bad.
Also Valentine and Texas Chainsaw Massacre but not the first one are pretty OK I would say

Nightmare 3 is more of comedy horror and lame spoof horror than a Nightmare On Elm street movie should be.

any Friday the 13th film is good, because it warms you over to the bad acting and all the other things that make watching cheesy slashers fun. from there, the sky is the limit.

New sig quote, right there. EVERYONE should follow this advice when they are first starting out watching horror films - listen to this man, horror virgins. Slasher movies are, I believe, an acquired taste, and there's nothing that warms you up to the whole charm of the genre better than F13.

"Poltergeist", without a doubt. Rated PG, very little blood and gore (except for the part near the end where the coffins start popping up...) and a damn good story.
Another really good story, maybe not 'horror' but definately supernatural-ish, would be "Stir of Echoes".

STRANGELAND. Written and starring Dee Snider of Twisted Sister. The freaked me out and left me tense for a week.
It's also way ahead of it's time in that it's about an internet preditor and was released before John Hansen did his thing

Can't go wrong with a classic like JAWS. Of course, I'm biased, since it IS my favorite movie of all time and all, but it's still a damn fine horror movie in it's own right, though since it IS pretty male centric, your girl might not relate to all the characters.
If you're trying to break her in gently, GINGER SNAPS is a pretty decent way to go about it, as is AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON, and also THE FLY. Show her that all horror movie don't have to be tits n ass and machetes.....

Shaun of the dead or dog soldiers if they count, if he doesn't like the horror she has the comedy.

We watched Friday the 13th last night and she seemed to like it, so I think we are going to finish off that series, and then maybe move on something else more scary and gruesome.
