I was watching Survivor Series 1993 earlier. When it came on, Pentengill said "Welcome to the WWF Survivor Series." I thought about it, and it just sounded a little off, since I've been watching and hearing everyone say WWE since 2002. Perhaps it's because I haven't been watching too much older stuff fromthe 80's & 90's.
I don't know about y'all, but I never thought saying WWE would feel "natural" for lack of a better term. Now, I laugh to myself at other people when they say 'WWF', because to me, it shows how long it has been since they watched, or have been up on American wrestling. I even cringe a little when I hear an announcer on an NBA or NFL game say 'WWF'.
I find that I immediately have more regard for those outside of wrestling who know it's called WWE. Thank you, Reggie Miller!

Not at all. Sometimes when typing 'WWE' on these forums I instinctively type 'WWF'. I started watching wrestling at age 4 back in 1988, so I grew up on the WWF. It'll never sound wrong to me.

WWF sounds really weird to me. I started watching in 2000 so I've known it as WWE for a lot longer.

Now don't get me wrong, I have been watching wrestling LONG before the name change from WWF to WWE, (late 80's/early 90's)but after hearing it as WWE for the better part of 7 years, I guess I have become accustomed to saying it. I used to be the exact opposite.

I'm just in this weird middle ground between the two where they both sound right depending on what era is being referenced.

In a sense, yeah, because we've been conditioned to anticipate "WWE" when listening to commentary, promos, and commercials. Keep in mind though, I've watched wrestling since 1990, so I spent far more time hearing "WWF" than I have "WWE". So when I go back and watch old WWF footage, it feels a little odd. It feels more odd in the sense that I feel like I'm watching a different company, with the major changes that happened around the time of the name change. Even if I'm used to WWE after all the years they've been saying it now, I almost WANT to hear them say WWF, because to me, those initials signify a superior overall product.

I use WWF to refer to the times when the company was known as that name.
So, for example, The Rock faced Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania X7 for the WWF Championship.
Whereas Edge is the current WWE Champion.

A bunch of guys wrestling in the indys still to this day won't call it WWE. lol I can see where they are coming from actually. The whole thing about them having to change their name was bullcrap. Since when could you ever trademark an acronymn?

WWE rolls off the tongue these days, just like WWF used to. It irritates me much more than it should when people call it the WWE, especially if it's on a scripted show.
Weirdly at the time I didn't even know they were changing their name. I don't know if it was ever advertised on TV but I didn't use to use the internet so I just sat down one day ready to watch the wrestling (I missed a bit of the beginning) and they were suddenly calling it the WWE. The first night was when they had about 10 hardcore title changes so Lilian Garcia kept announcing it as the "WWE Hardcore Champion" and I was just thinking "how can she be messing this up over and over again?".

Not really...
To me WWF, block logo and all the rest, means childhood memories, the good old times when wrestling was just fun, and something I anticipated watching every day/week (depending on the TV schedule)
WWE is just the "new face" of something that resembles a bit the good old wrestling, but has lost a lot of appeal, nad it's more or less something I watch out of habit, but I don't really care much about in the end.
When it was WWF and I was like 12, I taped and watched every Earthquake v Tommy Angel. Now I FF through most of RAW and SmackDown.
Back to the OQ, no WWF doesn't sound weird to me. Different name for a different (and better IMO) era.

Whereas Edge is the current WWE Champion. That's how I feel too, it's almost like two different companies. What does grate though is referring to the old stuff as WWE, eg former WWE champion Bret Hart, that just sounds wrong.

Nope. I still call it WWF when talking about the pre-2002 days, and I very much prefer talking about those days more than these days...

Also, I'll call it the WWF if I'm talking to someone who has been in a box for the last 7 or so years and is not aware of the name change. But overall, I feel like WWE is just what it is now.

I think WWF sounds weird, but World Wrestling Federation doesn't. Most everything I own as far as old footage goes are reproduced WWE DVD's where "WWF" is edited out. The other day I popped in an old DVD I own that was before the name change and to hear them say WWF and not "WW.." just sounded odd. I've just gotten so used to not hearing it, that when I do it definately has a weird sound to it.

Yes it does. I have been watching wrestling on and off my whole life but I guess I am just use to WWE now. It sounds much more fluid now a days then when they switched over.
