The big gold belt... will it ever be modernized?

I was just thinking about this... Why is it that the WWE title has been changed countless times over the years but the World title has been the same big gold belt for years? In the 80s and early 90s, the WWF title belt was that classic design that Hulk Hogan, the Warrior, Macho Man, and even Flair held. Eventually, we saw reincarnations like the Smoking Skull Belt, the Undisputed belt, the Cena spinning title, etc. Yet the big gold belt has looked the same since the WCW years. Why is it immortal but the WWE titlebelt and ECW championship belt change every few years? Shouldn't it be changed to have a more current look?

God I hope not... the big gold belt is still the best looking title in wrestling.

I for one like how they keep the same look for the belt since the NWA days. It gives the belt more prestige and more meaning to it's heritage IMO. The belts being constantly changed and re modeled takes away from there heritage and de valuates the title. Especially when there changed as often as the WWE changed there title look. Mostly during the Attitude Era days. It did get changed for a reason at Wrestlemania 3 and the winged Eagle belt did look better than the older belt but they should have kep0t that look. It;s exact same belt that Hogan, Warrior, Hart, Flair and Savage among others would have worn. By changing the belt up the title has the same name but the belt is completly different which means the belt it's self means very little.

It is just one of the many problems with the modern day WWE title scene (along with over exposure of champions and monthly PPV title defenses and belts changing hands way to often)

The most modernizing it will ever get is what it got in early 2003 when the WWE logo was added to it.

I've always thought TBGB is ugly, just a giant piece of gold with faint design on it.

The best looking belt WWE ever had was the Undisputed title held by Lesnar. Wish they'd bring that back.

I hope that they dont change it. I really wish they'd bring the Undisputed Title Belt back and use that as the WWE title as it makes no sense why Triple H, Edge, Jeff Hardy etc would hold a belt customized to be Cena's unless they are fueding with him.

They won't change it, because the big gold belt is such a classic design...

...but then, to me, so was the winged eagle belt. I suppose the WWE title is the WWE title whatever they make it look like, because it is 'their' belt, whereas the WHC would cease to be the WHC and lose its 'history' if it were to look radically different to how it always has.

I actually kind of like the spinner, as long as Cena is holding it. John Cena isn't even on SmackDown right now, so it should be changed back to the Lesnar/Eddie/JBL-era design.

Anyway, I wouldn't mind seeing the BGB getting a minor update with some jewels added to it like in the Flair original so it has more color but, the basic shape and design do not need to change.

I'm not going to claim the spinner is what's wrong with America, or anything like that. I'm not even American, so I don't much care what's wrong or isn't wrong with the place.

But that spinner belt just looks cheap and ugly. It's actually worse than the Diva belt, in my opinion.
