No recollection of it whatsoever. :-)
Joey was told to go out there and speak from the heart. I don't think any of it was written

This is the reason I thought the new ECW wouldn't suck. But I was wrong.
PS. "I'm not good enough to call Backlash!!" is a gold line.

Worked shoot or not, most of what he said was truth.

Anyone remember this? Was this a worked shoot? Nope, they conveniently had a camera back there with him to highlight how annoyed he was at the Spirit Squad and conveniently didn't cut his mic when he started badmouthing the company for the entire segment.

This was about when people here started thinking they were going to market ECW as an alternative brand that was focused on much more exciting wrestling ala the ECW style of old. Vince was actually going to say there was another group of wrestling fans that he was going to try to capture with ECW. People that preferred wrestling over interviews. Angles over storylines. Wrestlers over "superstars". That maybe in some slight way this new ECW would have the feel of ECW.
It was like the theory of time travel that even if you make changes to the past... everything will eventually make it's way back to the way it was supposed to be despite the bumps in the road you caused. As if your efforts never existed. That's how I feel about this promo now... even though at the time.. that promo made me feel like a young, uninformed fan again who really cared.

The promo was Styles idea. He presented it to the bookers and they gave him the green light as they were pushing ECW like the old ECW at the time being. All that can't be word-for-word scripted so I guess Joey ad-libed a bit out there
