Sorry about yet another WrestleMania booking thread, but I thought this one was good.
I know a majority of people are pumped for Shawn Michaels v The Undertaker on Sunday, God knows I am. But someone in the WrestleMania thread brought up how Chris Jericho v The Undertaker might have been better for the overall card.
In hindsight, I kind of agree considering what Jericho's match now is. I've thought about it and this how we could have gotten to Jericho/Taker.
Instead of having Jericho rant about how The Wrestler was sending a bad message about legends, he could have used it to say that he was going to be a bigger legend than anyone, by beating The Undertaker at WrestleMania. You could have involved Flair and Snuka beatdowns by virtue of them "being below him for not being able to take out The Undertaker" and gotten victories over Steamboat and Piper as some kind of "trophy wins", proving that he is better than the "so-called legends". Then he could have done some of the stuff Shawn Michaels has just done (except probably the tribute thing, that would only have worked for Michaels I think) to get into Undertaker's head. Bam! Match set.
At this point, Shawn Michaels is out of a match. Logically, his match could have been the conclusion to his "JBL's Virgil" storyline, possibly in some kind of "Loser Leaves Town" match considering JBL's alleged plans to retire again.
This would simply be rectified by JBL getting the result from their match at No Way Out, when Michaels won with partial assistance from his wife, declared null and void, thus leaving Michaels still under his employ, and allowing him to really step up the humiliation. Michaels could still have had the ambition of fighting Undertaker, but loses that right when he loses a match to Jericho with JBL's interference. Eventually, Michaels would just crack, and the final challenge would be set. Loser must retire.
As such, JBL may or may not have won the Intercontinental Championship. I either have him beating CM Punk for the title, then losing it in Punk's rematch when Michaels finally cracks it, or simply not winning it at all.
Either way, Punk stays as IC Champion going into WrestleMania. Instead of being in Money In The Bank, he defends it against either Rey Mysterio in a straight up match or William Regal in some kind of wrestling-based (as opposed to weapon-based or enclosure-based) stipulation match (2/3 falls or submission) to finish their long-running feud.
The one not in the IC Championship match goes in MITB.
Thoughts?
