The story according to Bret from his book is this: Bulldog was told he was going over (home town and so forth) so he decidated to his dying sister. Then after that sometime, Shawn and Hunter said they are not jobbing to Davey Boy so Vince changed the plans. In Shawns book the story is that HBk came up with the idea cause he thought i would draw massive heel heat ( he was of couse 100% right) and told Vince. Still the match is just fantastic in every way!

Yeah Shawn's side of the story was to build heat for the Survivor Series title re-match with Bret. Either way and rightly or wrongly it was Shawn who lobbied to have the original booking plan changed and it was the only time Bulldog lost in the UK during his time in WWF. Even looking back at it now you can't help but hate Shawn Michaels a little bit at the end there, so the heat he got at the time is understandable and amazing to watch. Definitely a terrific PPV and one of the last before the Attitude Era really got in full swing after Montreal.

Vintage Collection sounds like such a cool show. It's too bad we don't get it in the US. We do, it's called MSG Classics. Oh, I didn't realize MSG Classics aired rare UK exclusive Pay Per Views and recapped classic SummerSlam, Survivor Series, and Royal Rumbles.
