If so, what I want to know is why? what's wrong with being a wrestling fan? just because a lot of people look down upon it and might laugh at you for liking it doesn't mean you should be ashamed to admit to watching and liking it.

I used to be, especially when I did collegiate wrestling. I'd deny any connection to it.
Now I'll pretty much admit to still watching it, though I'll list it as a guilty pleasure. If anyone gives me crap over it, I'll ask if it's any worse than some of the things they watch (anything from Star Trek to Harry Potter to Sex and the City is fair game for anyone who rips on me for liking wrestling).

In Germany, admitting to being a wrestling fan is like showing up at an orgy with a three-inch-cock and a hunting knife. Nobody´s gonna be impressed and you end up being avoided.

No because you should see the stuff that non-wrestling fans tend to be a fan of.
Its a case of "Look whos talking". What do you go and watch after you criticize me? Don't wanna answer. Thats what I thought. Leave me be.

I haven't been a wrestling fan since the days of wwwf...then when they dropped a w and I became a "sports entertainment" fan. Pardon my sarcasm...I am a good ol fashion wrasslin' fan and proud of it. When people look down at me for that I start "hulking up," and give them the big boot then the atomic leg drop. No, seriously I don't care what people think. They can all go and lick a llamas anus for all I care...

It's not something you throw out there when you're at work or trying to get a girl to go on a date with you. It's something you let them know when they are firmly your friend or firmly dating you.
Can't say "I love watching half naked dudes perform a play"
That's basically what wrestling is. Oh and yeah I'm never going to wear wrestling shirts in public because of those damn labels.

I feel pretty much the same here. Im comfortable with friends knowing I watch it and I try to get them in on it.

Can't say "I love watching half naked dudes perform a play" It's really no worse than seeing 300 pound football players wearing skin tight uniforms grabbing and jumping on each other.

LOL Yeah it is because these guys are sexy and shirtless, thus making me gayer. Plus unlike boxing or MMA, they are play fighting not real fighting. I also say I watched it since i was a kid, so it's pretty much like the Simpsons where even though i memorize lines and know where an episode is going, i won't stop watching. To me it's in the same class as GI:joe, Thundercats, THE REAL Ghostbusters, TMNT, and Power Rangers. An action-adventure show geared towards boys

No not at all. It's the best sport going today by far and anyone who criticizes it or calls it fake. Is ignorant and has no clue what wrestling (or sports entertainment) actually is every other sport looks more or less the same to me week by week and match by match ()football/soccer). However you never know what your going to get with wrestling (sports entertainment);. It's a soap opera a circus act a 'live' movie an unbelievable show of athletisism (it takes more skill not to hurt your opponent than it does to hit them and hurt them. It;'s an art form in it's own how they can pull the 'moves off' and m,ake it look real. Yet most the time the competitors walk away un harmed). The acting can be a bit 'off' at times (during promos etc|) but in any other environment (TV shows or movies) where there doing basically the same acting job. They have to take take after take top do what the wrestlers do. They work a harder schedule and more demanding schedule than any other sport. If you look at similar 'sports' (MMA or boxing) they only compete once or twice in 6 months in wrestling they are working hard every day and constantly on the road. It is the most demanding sport by far on the human body. The people who say it's 'all crap and fake' have no clue as to what pro wrestling actually is and most will have a favorite movie or TV show which is by far more fake. Although it is a similar thing to pro wrestling. There is no logical reason to be embarrassed of being a wrestling fan. It is the best sport by far going. Every single week in every other sport is exactly the same. In wrestling every week is complete different. So no Iam not embarrassed to be a pro wrestling Fan or to admit I am
Rant over! ;D

I am. I wish I wasn't but I kind of am. It's something I am not afraid to admit liking to people I am closest with and who also like wrestling. But its something I don't proudly proclaim to coworkers or the general public. I never wear wrestling hats or clothes. I have been embarassed when a coworker found out I liked wrestling or went to live events. They instantly feel like they are the one to "out" wrestling to you and tell you it is fake....like I hadn't figured that out yet!
Its just not something acceptable or cool in most circles. Pro football or other sports, UFC... all cool. I wish more people were into it and I could have discussions at work and not be embarassed.

Can't say "I love watching half naked dudes perform a play" It's really no worse than seeing 300 pound football players wearing skin tight uniforms grabbing and jumping on each other. Coming from someone who hates football, it's already more legitimate by default because it's actually real. False analogies gogo. That said, yeah, I am, because it's generally a cultural waste dump 95% of the time. When it is written correctly, it's written very well, but it's unfortunately a crapshoot of either pure fail or pure win. It's even more embarrassing when you look at all the "DID YOU KNOW?" garbage. When I come across a WoW arena team named "The Benoits Need a Rez," I know one of my hobbies has become niche and a mockery among most people over the age of 8.

So do you list off a bunch of acceptable television shows when you're at work or trying to "court a mate" so that they accept you better? I honestly don't see the big deal really. If someone doesn't want to date you just because you watch wrestling they weren't worth it to begin with. And the wrestling shirt issue is silly IMO there are terrible shirts out there for everything, some of those oh so witty and designer label tees out there are awful yet people will still proudly wear them. I'm not gonna hide what I like just because it isn't socially acceptable. If I'm dating a girl and she laughs because I like wrestling, I'll respond that I'd rather be a wrestling fan than watch American Idol with baited breath. That usually shuts them up...
