I should reiterate that I'm not making this thread to bitch at people who do enjoy him. I don't believe in that.
I understand why he's so beloved. He's got talent, some promo ability, and a deep love for what he does- plus his "everyman" aura. But, for whatever reason, I have never been able to get behind him. I thought to myself once, "maybe its his lack of flash as opposed to other guys I'm a fan of, like Rock, HBK, Macho Man or Cena"- but then I remembered how much I enjoy Orton, and he's not exactly Mr. Outrageous.
And it's not how he's been booked lately, either. I felt the same way about him in the original ECW.
So...how much of a weirdo am I?

He doesn't do anything for me either. I've always found him to be pretty boring, but I respect the hell out of him and his passion for the business.

I was never a massive fan of his in the original ECW either.
I suppose I've grown to respect rather than like Tommy Dreamer over the years.
Always hear nothing but good things about him and in this industry, that can be quite rare sometimes.

I've been a Dreamer mark since 1996. Raven vs Dreamer is my all time favourite feud.
That said why should it matter if you have different taste?

I respect the hell out of him as a person and performer, but feel he should maybe have retired earlier, pehaps after the big WM23 win.
I guess he chooses to put people over, which is cool, but I think he's too past his prime now.

In retrospect, he was part of a violent subculture and that was cool. When he started daring people to eat or drink stuff, I started to think I'm not really liking this character. Now, he jobs to the occasional "pushee" and gets paid.

I've also never really dug the Tommy. I always got the impression that I'd missed his best stuff since I never really had any opportunity to see ECW back in the day. Watching the Rise and Fall of ECW DVD makes me mark for him given the way they frame it, but sadly I've never gotten to see it.
I have no problem with the stuff he does these days and find myself always hoping he gets better stuff. Let's hope they give it to him. His character is really the type that seems like it NEEDS to go through hell and pull it out. With him going for the title they better step it up sooner than later and have good ol' Jack start putting the screws to "pathetic" Tommy Dreamer fueling his drive. This Finaly feud should be layered with this, not be distracting from it IMO.

I really like him, but you're not some freak for not enjoying him. Jack Swagger doesn't really do much for me, despite nearly everyone else being in love with him.

What character? The only time he had a character was in the middle of his ECW run.

Tommy Dreamer is a glorified jobber on WWEs weakest show. I've never seen him do anything noteworthy to get me behind him. He may have been great in the 90s, but so was half the WCW and ECW roster that stink up the joint now.

Unfortunately, I became acquainted with him during his "I'll eat anything" gimmick. He's not a technical magician, but he's good at what he does, is one of the most passionate men in the business, and is the last true link to the original ECW, which he defends when nobody else will.

Actually, he was pretty much a jobber back then, for the most part, only thing is was that he had a legendary feud with Raven, among other things... But, then again, Tommy is supposed to be a loser. He's supposed to be the type who just can't seem to win...right up until the very last minute, where he shocks the world by beating whomever he happened to be feuding with (see: Raven).

I liked him in the old ECW, but I don't care for him that much anymore. The only reasons he gets the reactions that he does is because he's the only ECW original left in the WWE.
