Besides the obvious fact that I can't sing. I just got this game today and am using my XBox Live headseat. For some reason I can get decent scores on Easy on some songs, and others I can't even hardly get the notes right. What the hell am I doing? Could someone explain it to me, as far as how to sing when the words are at what pitch. I'm lost.

If you try to sing 'metal' or growly at all (IE, like a man) you'll fail every time. I dunno why that is. Some songs I can get five stars on every time, others, even ones I've been singing for years, it fails me. So I've taken to "zombie singing" just to get through certain ones....growling and groaning and s*** and just making the pitch thing move to where it should be. I've gotten five stars doing that before.

Yeah, you pretty much have to eliminate all aspects of actual singing to sing well on Rock Band. Just match the pitch with no actual vibrato or emotion or anything and you'll do well.
I don't sing on Rock Band for this reason. It's boring to me.

Get a USB Microphone. I've tried it with both Headset and USB Mic.
Mic, I can get through alot of songs on Hard
Headset? I struggled on anything that's not Enter Sandman on Easy.
Aside from that, just keep practicing the song. I had a ton of problems with 'Creep' until about 8 trys later I finally hit the pitch.

The arrow on the left side of the line is my pitch right? Am I'm trying to get it to match the place the words are coming at me?
Edit: That's funny, Creep was the only song I got like a 95% the first time. And that Yeah Yeah Yeah song. But the others I sucked at.

I seen a girl on youtube with a special mic stand. And she sang Livin On A Prayer while playing it on Guitar. And she got 100% on Expert for both.

Most of them you can talk through. It ha sa range where you can go an octave up or down from where you need to be. But when you can't get in to that range you are still screwed.

The Xbox Live Headset is terrible for Rock Band and Guitar Hero World Tour. Get a real mic.

Also agreed that you need to ditch the XBL headset. It's got terrible sound fidelity, and ain't going to help you.

Some songs I can get five stars on every time, others, even ones I've been singing for years, it fails me. That really sucks. Now, even though I absolutely despise Guitar Hero World Tour, I've got to give it a bit of credit for not failing you when you try to do your best Lemmy impression on "Overkill". Sure, you might get around 59% of the notes right, but at least you'll get through the song (at least in band play). With that said, I believe Rock Band 2 made the singing quite a bit easier, as I can now usually five-star pretty much every song I try on Medium (even when I do my bad Jello Biafra impression for the Dead Kennedys DLC) and get 100% from songs such as "Girl's Not Grey" without too many problems.

Try going high-pitched if possible, I'm a singing god now due to my Bruce Dickinson high-pitchedness.
