Name some good prison movies/shows.
Obviously Shawshank Redemption is probably the most well known and favorited prison movie.
You also can't forget the classic Caged Heat. lol
Also only shows I know of if you don't count military prison would be Oz and Prison Break.
Some other ones Tango and Cash Animal Factory Blood In, Blood Out

Since you aren't counting military prisons, I guess that The Great Escape is out.
American History X has good jail scenes, but is hardly a jail movie. Same goes for The Hurricane.
That's all I got.

No I like military prison movies too. The Great Escape is one of the best movies I've ever seen. If anyone knows of anymore like that name'em.

The real question is does Chicken Run count.

I can't remember what it's called.
The one where Rodney Dangerfield is the warden and he has the inmates steal stuff for the jail.

Escape From Alcatraz, the Clint Eastwood film. Great prison movie. Co-signed. Also Cool Hand Luke as mentioned earlier. Also I know military prisons don't count in this but I really like The Last Castle.

The Green Mile
Also, though not technically a prison movie, Schindler's List should still count.

I'd also like to add that 'Reform School Girls' is a prison epic that no one should miss.
